Yes, it is very true that eople are afraid of Christianity and try to prove it wrong. They have not learned that the bible cannot be proved wrong by whatever they say... it's a pointless debate of faith. However, people are afraid of the Bible and Christianity, and this is why they post stuff like "Bible Inconsistencies" which does nothing but make some points about incest in the beginning of the world, however, Adam and Eve were created, not born from the same womb, so technically, they were related in no way.
These are the top 5 reasons why non-believers are afraid of the Bible and why all they want to do is criticize it...
1. Non-believers are looking for any excuse to argue. Whether it be from the Jews be more equal than others (not true) to the great Flood and how things could not have survived, they analyze the bible for these points which will try to STUMP Christians and do not read it for its ethical value.
2. Non-believers are afraid of the Truth that comes from reading the Bible. They are not willing to accept that God has provided a great gift to them (Jesus) free of charge to save them because He loves them. They do not like the idea that God is omnipotent and already knows how every person's life is going to turn out. They are comfortable "knowing" that "they control their own lives." God does give us free will but he also already knows which path we will choose. The Bible tells us to obey God, not understand Him.
3. Acceptance. People are not willing to accept that some things in the Bible had to happen the way they did (ex. the flood, slavery, death, plagues) so that a lesson could be learned from them. If God did not love his people, why would he send his only Son down to earth to be a man and be ridiculed, tortured, and executed for our sins and live a troublesome life to teach the Word of God?
4. Non-Believers do not want to follow the Laws that God has given us. Instead, they want to do the "feel-good" things. Things that maybe are illegal or not right just to satisfy their lustful instincts and "solve" their problems. Some examples... drug use, sex, alcohol, etc. Sometimes it is not merely a fact of "feeling-good", but it is the popular thing to do, like smoking, (which I believe makes people look like arses.) A decision that is right is not always popular, a decision that is popular is not always right. We try to fill that empty hole inside with things that make us "feel good" but they can never give us the satisfaction which fills the emptiness, Christianity.
5. People cannot agree with some of the rituals and ceremonies that churches do. Communion, baptism, etc... are things that ignorant non-believers do not understand because they have not studied them and what those ceremonies signify. Also, I attend a church that is not based on the ceremony, it is a church service on Saturday nights with a praise band and message, no ceremony.
Why must people question my religion? is it because it makes them feel big to make others look like an idiot, or is it just out of pure spite and jealousy? I cannot answer that, the only thing I can do is give you my beliefs so that you may better understand Christianity before you judge it.
"Do not judge others, lest you also will be judged."
