Before you start the flaming, let me explain My opinion towards the online play on a Nintendo console.
Like i said, Online might not be so great.
My reasons?
1. Lag:
Obviously it is inevitable. As Sakurai said, if you play someone that lives half way across the world, you WILL lag. Or most likely will. This means that you will be in a freeze time for a few seconds.. or even minutes!
GK's opinion: I have played Mario Strikers Charged millions of times online. You get to know whether or not your connection is good, and hopefully we will see something like this... Otherwise we will see hell. Lag is horrible... it can cost you the hole game... Speaking from experience -.-
2. Hacks and Cheats
Ughh... let's hope that they have the time to make sure that there is some sort of barrier or anti hacker type thing to stop this. These types of people do not play fair and end up doing the impossible, you will know when you see one.
GK's opinion: Oh Gosh... Metroid Prime Hunters has a hole bunch of them... You will never be in a room without a hacker or cheater. Really how the heck will Nintendo stop them from breaching SSBB... Although I haven't experienced anything in any other Wi-Fi games, other then animal crossing, but those are DS games... Mario Strikers, being the only Wi-Fi game to probably play like SSBB (or hope so) does not have many, or if not, any.
3. Chat
Uh oh *Covers self in blankets and plugs ears* here comes the flaming doom! Anyways, SSBB does provide us with 4 different preset texts, which we can apply and edit. Which is awesome...
GK's opinion: Ummm How exacly will we chat when we're busy playing? Oh that's right, i just remembered (seriously!) that the new firmware for the wii allowed keyboards! SSBB would be great with some chatting improvements... Make some friends... I understand that Nintendo does not want to get sued but really, just edit the Terms and(or was it 'of') Agreements to make sure that they cannot sue you... It is the user's fault and not nintendo's that you give away such private information if you choose to do so.
4. Friend Codes
Again I'm going to cover myself in a blanket and plug my ears (or eyes)...
Friend Codes, stop us from enjoying such freedom as would the 360 or a simple PC online game. Nintendo does let us play others, but it restricts us our freedom... No name, no chat, no nothing, but gaming...
GK's opinion: No name, no chat no nothing but gaming... Really isn't that what we're supposed to do? gaming right! Friend Codes are complicated and they take forever to trade and share... The random play restricts us, why no names, why no chat... Read previous reason towards that Nintendo and the terms of/and agreements. Nintendo should not be responsible for what you show or give to others.
5. Kids.
Alright, Most of you have probably played an xbox and talked via voice chat. You've heard it, the kids swearing like sailors...
GK's opinion: Can we say parental control?
Conclusion: Covers in blankets and plugs ears or eyes... Blah just my opinions...
