Many people argue about how different smash games are. Here we can discuss whether we think it is a Brawl 2.0, a Melee 2.0, or unique. Personally I think it is unique and It's own game.

It's almost like people don't even try to mask their flamebaits anymore. This post is almost directly calling for a war.

It definitely felt like it's own thing more than Brawl 2.0 or Melee 2.0. I can say that it's a mix as well, it felt SO GOOD to hit someone in this game and it's just an overall brighter and more enthusiastic (for lack of a better word) experience.

The diversity of the roster is my favorite thing about Smash 4 right now so far Lucina is the only clone which is pretty good in my book and all opinions i have seen from those who have played says it doesn't feel like melee but it also doesn't feel like brawl

Ahem, so to actually address the topic...

Sm4sh has shown itself to be functionally very different from its predecessors while at the same time retaining their best features (absence of tradition physics warping capabilities notwithstanding). The speed is pretty in the middle and certain characters are now different from their traditional presentations. Who would have expected ditto Bowsers in the grand finals of any tournament?

Also, no other game allows you to pit the four titans of retro gaming against each other.

I think it's pretty clear (and the votes right now being 8-0-0 in favor of unique) that Sm4sh is a unique experience. Whether you like that or not is up to you. And that's okay.

Thanks for staying on topic guys. :) The reason I think it is unique is because of many different gameplay mechanics, characters for any matter, stages, speed. Now that I say that I realize even if it was a 2.0, it would still in some way be unique.

Gonna say 64 2.0

SDCC 3DS Tourney winner, Larry seem to agree that it reminds him more of 64, although slower.

Wish I could have put that in the poll :) but really it does remind be of 64 too. But I don't think it's slower though. A little more to the faster.
I do also think it looks faster, wonder how he felt that while playing.

Eh, I can't say I got the same impression. The series has gone through so many upgrades since those days that I can barely see the roots within.

Yeah that's what it could be

64 style, only with some brawl tactics and movements left over. so pretty much its own game, just hope combos are present, if they are, everything should be all right with the majority.

With new characters, stages, items, and gameplay, it's definitely going to be a new experience!

Can I have more poll options plx? To me it seems closer to brawl than to melee but it isn't a 2.0 version. Just a bit too close to Brawl for being a so called "middle ground".

I didn't even see an option for "Middle Ground". Just "unique" and "____ 2.0".

I don't feel this thread has a positive future. Enough threads exist which are not-so-loosely covering the game comparisons while still having a skew of other things to work with. This thread only really has one path, dismantling how poor and biased your provided options were, and the general bickering between those multiple notions that aren't agreeable.

And instead of multiple posts of "Inb4 the lock", how about reporting the thread and not posting spam?
