Really quick/stupid question

Situation: Marth is recovering and you're chilling on the ledge. Marth's only options are to either upB and sweetspot the ledge or upB onto the stage.

Question: What should you do? I was thinking that if you try to guess/predict, there's a possibility you can mess up and he'll live (you press R, thinking he'll sweetspot, but he actually upB's onto the stage, etc.). However, if you drop and regrab the ledge at the right time, you'll have invincibility frames so his upB won't hit you. If he tries to sweetspot, you can just hang on for the edgehog. If he decides to upB onto the stage you won't get hit b/c of the invincibility and you have plenty of time to jump up and hit him with the back of your knee for the KO.
Am I right?

Note:
I'm sorry if I made this out to be more complicated than it actually is.

Can you really jump up and knee from the ledge that fast? I'm asking because I don't know, not because I'm questioning your skill.

your best bet is to stay hanging on the ledge and roll off( l or r) when he is up b-ing. if you do it at the right time and they landed on the stage u might catch them crouch canceling and you can dash attack them and theyll probably die.if ur quick enough u can just knee them

CF can't keep invincibility infinitely, so if you're dropping down and grabbing the ledge to keep your invincibility, a top Marth player will upB you right when you're invincibility wears off, so basically you get hit and turn around, and Marth is now on the ledge. Very dangerous position.

If you want to practice jumping from the ledge and wavelanding at the edge to regrab, that has less of a window of vulnerability. If you can manage to force Marth to upB while you still have invincibility your best bet is to stay on the ledge and wait. If he goes for the edge he'll get edgehogged, and if not, you can dj knee the balls off him.

Until you get comfortable with that, I recommend stalling as long as you can and rolling as soon as you hear Marth start his upB. Then you can do the Isai and bair him in his lag, he does it to Ken a few times in vids, check those out if you haven't seen them already.

@xeleion, yes, you can definitely do that. It works on less laggy recoveries than Marth's, which is pretty bad.

If you have the time to set it up I would light shield. Marth either dies, or you get to ledge-hop a knee.

Otherwise what I try to do is standup, instead of rolling at the edge. If you time it right, marth will still die if he tries to sweetspot. If he doesn't sweetspot, it's faster than rolling so more time to get an attack off.

So if I did it that way would I have time to F-smash? What would be the best way to punish him?

If you're sure that he's not going for the ledge (which he can do anyways if he is high enough and DIs backwards after the upB), then you do have time to get up and then fsmash him in his lag. If you're good enough, though, you can reverse knee the balls off him.

K. Thanks!
