Since I have a habit of killing all video threads...

So I cant be bothered making a new thread (and coz i think the concept is dumb)

Anyway I finally got around to putting up some videos of my snake. I dont really main Snake, but I do use him in doubles/FFA tournaments and in a double blind pick sometimes and vs MK, G&W for 1vs1 if I have to. Critique or whatever would be cool :) Me + my brother will probably end up using snake in the next big tourney here.

*I SD'd at the end to keep it below the 3:00 mark for replays. My brother doesnt main DK or wario but I told him to use them since they do well against snake, incase you notice too many quirks about his gameplay :)*

btw i know i staled the uptilt vs DK, i dont normally do that lol. and in the wario match i completely forgot about GR - uptilt until the final KO :p Sweaty hand johns @ failed mortar slides. I know about jab cancels -> grabs, i just dont feel comfortable doing them in a risk v reward sitatuation where ftilt just does too much damage to not be used

So yeah. in be4 space with ftilt nade camp more lol

More explosives! Snake is broken because of the fact that he can make the entire stage a danger zone. You need to use more trip mines and C4 to block off certain areas, and use grenades to apply pressure and funnel them into your tilts. You seemed to be trying to win through close range combat. Snake doesn't have a bad close game by any means, but to be fully effective he needs things exploding around him constantly.

Anytime you have a free moment, you should be setting up explosives or pulling 'nades. A lot of times in the video, I saw you just standing there. Snake should never be doing that, he should always be working to set up traps and increase stage control.

Don't do the full three hit jab, they can shield between the hits. The first hit of the jab is a fantastic interrupt, but do it into Ftilt instead of the second and third hits of the jab.

You have a grab release on Wario into both a Nair and an Utilt that are guaranteed. You should take every opportunity you can to grab Wario and let him release. When he's below 130, release into Nair. Once he gets to around 125, release into Utilt for the guaranteed kill.

Edit: I just saw you do a grab release on him. Do it more! It's a great damage builder. Get as many grabs on him as you can.

I think you should practice your techchasing some. His responses to getting down thrown were pretty predictable, and you weren't getting regrabs or tilts out of your Dthrows. In different situations, people will react in certain ways to Snake dthrow. A couple of body lengths from the edge, they'll roll to the center. Right near the edge, they'll roll to the edge. In the middle, they'll roll away. On platforms, they'll do a get up attack. These are just tendencies, you need to observe every player you face and see how they tend to escape, and use their tendencies to punish them.

GRAB MORE! Snake's grab game is amazing. His back throw has a lot of range, and can force your opponent into an edgeguard position easily. His Dthrow is just plain broken what with all the techchasing you can do. Basically, grab, grab, and grab some more.

Finally, get the infinite replay length hack so you don't have to play with such a short time limit :)

Don't take the fact that it's all criticism as a bad thing. You're off to a great start with Snake, and these are some ways you can improve.

Well, there's another area to improve. Make sure you can do all of Snake's techs, like mortar sliding and momentum changing, every single time. You don't want one to fail at a crucial moment in a tourney!

I don't know if it was time constraints or what, but you don't have to approach DK. I don't want to say camp with nades and space ftilt, but you do need to some camping, and realize the advantage of forcing approaches. Of course, this could have just been because of time constraints. Angel pretty much hit the nail on the head, except I'll say that you could try to diversify your moves, so toss out a dair sometimes, or dtilt after your jabs.

Aside from that, looking good ^^.

wow thanks for the big reply lol.

about the GR-nair on wario, how would you rate that in a risk v reward situation? My brother is good at DI and more often than not he will escape the final hit of nair such that it only does 15%. The way i see it, ive got maybe a 40% of landing the full 28% on the nair if i predict his DI and follow it perfectly vs a guaranteed 12% from the dthrow and a whole range of various followups (dthrow ftilt 33% lol, broken much?)

yeah time contraints were a big thing lol. I only saved replays which involved more than 4 KO's since no one wants to watch campy videos :p

If you can do great tech chasing, it's worth doing over the nair. Otherwise, go for the grab release.
