You've got a pretty good Ness there. You're no n00b.

I'd like to see more WDing out of sheild rather than rolling.

After you DJC an fair, dont sheild and roll back all of the time. I realize how Luigi can nair his way out of fiar combos, but you should try to land some. Grab afterwards, and if that dont work, ftilt, or utilt if they DI towards you.

You've got solid skill with PKT :)
If you know you cant make it back, go for a OLH! (*points at super guide*)

Funny comments :p
"Let's not record this match"
"...oh yeah"
"How did that happen!?" "I dunno"

Internet working poorly at the moment, but here's a short diagnosis:
Less rolling, more WDing
Less trying to get a smash out first, luigi wins that contest.
Improved DI. (On both sides, I mean, even ness throws shouldn't kill at 97%!)
More PK Thunder trickery, I approve of it.
More foot cancels.
More dash dances.
Better timing, by which I mean save pk flash guards for when luigi is further out.
Less hanging out with luigi high in the sky. He lied about the pie.
Aaaaaand...keep on truckin, you're doin' nice. A little more experience at opponent timing and your Ness will improve by leaps and bounds. And then you can make him your main again...pweese? (Claiming it will also improve your Peach is a heresy, and will be punished by me buying and playing video games!)

I actually practice with Ness more, just that his learning curve is killing me so I picked up Peach.

I used Pk Flash a lot to edgegaurd since I never tried it before, I prefer to use nair and fair with the occassional dair. Trying to mix up my game a little bit.

When you foot cancel, should I try to l-cancel it, and should I land witht the foot out or with Ness still starting up with the attack.

Sorry about the bad DI, but since then, as in two days later, I learned how to DI a lot better. From now on I only use next (well only for this weekend)

I personally think that Ness has a really good metagame (at least above Peach) and I'm trying to improve, but with Brawl on the way...

Mabye I'll be a simna worthy ness in Brawl (unless they replace him with Lucas or Claus as they originally inteded to look it up in wikipedia).

for foot cancelling, only if you see the move come out should you l cancel. a proper foot cancel has zero lag, which is where the use comes in. It's easiest with the dair(of course), but you can pull it off with any of the aerials. If you want to practice, quick DJCs with dairs are the easiest way. Hearing ness go "hah" or such is fine, but if you see the attack come out, you're not going quite fast enough. It's mainly meant for trickery, like delaying reaching your opponent, and should therefore be used in moderation, or just taunting between lives.

PK Flash is a wonderfully fun edgeguard, and I encourage using it, just be careful you know how much time you have. Some luigis would have ledgedashed->dragon punch. I learned that one painfully. Keep experimenting with it, since it works wonders when used for trickery. Personal favorite is luring jiggs in to rest me, only to meet my shield and another PK Flash.

I'm done with trying to guilt people into maining Ness, and I apologize for it. I don't know what came over me. Possibly hunger.

The thing I forgot to mention(I had it originally, but my first post didn't work) is that your move vareity could use a bit of spicing up. I saw a pk fire or two, but no aerial pk fires. I saw a match of Simna using it a good chunk in this fight, and I like it as a way to stop the priority-plane from charging in. I don't remember if I saw any tilts, mostly smashes on the ground. Also, definitely PSI Magnet at least once per match. It's more effective than taunting!

I like to taunt with the dsmash better, but I guess psi magnet works too.

I'm trying to use pk fire a lot more (similar to how simna bases his strategy on pk thunder) I doubt I'll ever get anywhere close to the pk thunder, but I just love to use it to combo. I'm so dependent on using pk thunder that in Ness dittos I always lose (psi magnet > pk thunder) since I can't thunder juggle my opponent.

I actually know the feeling. When we play, sometimes we do a random tourney, where we random one character, and everyone plays it. Ness came up, and I was thrilled.

The tourney goes, easy matches, though one guy had perfect pk thunder aim, I was amazed. Then I get to a guy that usually beats me by a stock. I figure that this'll be cake.

I got 3-stocked. Twice. I won a match between the 3 stocks, but seriously, I had no idea what to do. Take into account that the same thing happened to the other Ness player in the other semi-final match. We were confused beyond repair.

Anyway, get more vids up soon. Maybe someday I'll put some up, I do have a capture card now. If only I had a laptop...

I don't mean to discourage you, but i've noticed a lot of things that could be improved:

***

Keep up the good work!!!
I DON'T SEE "RATE MY LUIGI" ANYWHERE THIS IS THE NESS BOARD

Hahahahahahahaha i thought C 3 was commenting on Sage's play at first, too funny

Sage:
don't forget to jump-cancel your dash grabs, i saw at least one instance where you missed one and got punished for it.
you tend to roll or neutral-a recover from the ledge. practice ledge-hop>>>fair/uair/nair recovering. you hit a really nice ledgehop>fair way high up on FD at 2:30
L@wl likes to fireball, so maybe bat back if close enough??? careful if he's trying to bait-and-switch you with projectiles though.
good job on those sweetspot ledgegrabs.
i like your pk usages, makes me realize i don't use them as much as i could -- SDing when i miss pkthunder recoveries = negative reinforcement.
i wasn't sure if at 1:30 on FD when you hit yourself with a pkthunder while trying to edgeguard Luigi you were doing a pkthunder false edgeguard, but you almost had it!! keep working on those advanced thunder tactics. i have no skill with them myself but that's next for me.

Actually I wasn't trying to do it, but I posess the ability to do so. The main problem with my Ness is that I know A LOT about him, it just is reallly hard for me to process it into tactics during battle and use them against my opponent.

One time I managed to pull of a semi-pray off of a comp. fox (He was dj back to the stage to recover, I still died since I was so far out but hey!)

In a biweek or so Ness WILL be back to maining status considering how "techinical" my peach is... don't know how I beat my friends with her...

buy me a ticket and I'll support your smash scene dave! =D

I don't use much of the pk thunder tricks, though I did get a jiggs with one last week when he tried to eat my recovery. Just sank down until pk thunder would be off-screen, tailwhipped, then blasted him off the edge. That'll teach that free floating jerk what-for.

Also, you do better as peach because: they have less experience versus you as her, aaaand she has an incredibly wide range of skills where she's awesomes. Float cancelling > lots.

I've been using Peach for quite some time now. I think it's because we're evenly skilled so the matchup chart takes over. But it's not like I get ***** by his sheik or anything.

i personally think peach gets the same priority or better with less effort compared to ness. AND she refuses to die. having an easier learning curve and being harder to punish makes getting good with ness seem like shaolin monk training

buy me a ticket and I'll support your smash scene dave! =D
hehe i'd love to fly you over for a tourney that'd be sweet
can't help but laugh remembering some OC2 video with "the Hawaiians" making their entrance, then m2k arriving to the pokemon theme ^^

[omg i'm such a dork]

Does anyone else have anything to add? I improved some, but I still I want to get better so I don't get four-stocked at C3 this weekend.

Play shiek? =D

If you didn't give in to temptation, good. I also saw that you returned Ness to your main spot, good...good... Right, anyway, here's the deal: Use a better variety of moves, put more pressure on people, and for the love of theta, be smarmy! I hope that recap helps.

I don't think I ever got four-stocked except against a doctor mario player since it was the first time I ever played one and against blues when he used his marth (not sure about that one.) I'm improving a lot. I need to DjC better.
