Hello everybody, I am new to Smashboards (today) but have been playing SSB64 for a year now. I just had a few questions about some of the more obscure aspects of the game, which I don't know but I'm sure some of you will be able to answer. Thanks!

1. I know that a character who is killed over the top of the map fades into the distance and disappears, but occasionally the character will fly to the front of the screen instead after being killed over the top. Does anyone know why this is? Is it related to how much damage the character has?

2. How much damage does Kirby need to take to lose a power that he has stolen? Sometimes it seems like I lose it immediately, in one hit, and sometimes Kirby can take a fair amount of damage and be fine. Is it a certain amount of damage taken in one hit, or in a certain time period?

3. What kind of damage does DK take while holding someone on his back in the cargo hold? If he is hit by an attack, do both he and the held character take damage? Is it full damage or a percent of the attack's real damage?

4. Similarly, how much damage does Kirby take if there is someone in his mouth and he gets hit? Does the swallowed character also take damage?

5. How much damage will a character take while in a Yoshi egg? The full damage of any hit, or a percent of it?

6. In free-for-all, how is auto handicap calculated? By number of kills in a game, by position (ie. 1st, 2nd, etc), or by something else?

7. If you get hit by a thrown character, I have found that you usually take 5-6%. Is this number dependent on the weight of the thrown character, or the strength of the throw?

8. What are the rules behind the physics of the polygons/Kirbys/Yoshis in 1p mode? Sometimes the die in one shot, sometimes the try to recover, other times not.

Thank you guys so much, these are questions that I neither have the means nor the ability to answer on my own.

It's completely random.

Every time Kirby is hit, the chance of losing his ability is 1/12. I do not think there are any variables.
5. How much damage will a character take while in a Yoshi egg? The full damage of any hit, or a percent of it?
Egged characters take half damage, rounded up.

I think it has to be a hit with enough knockback to induce tumble (so that it's techable - i.e. Fox's dair will not work).

pretty sure characters who fly to the front of the screen after being ko'd is because they get hit to the exact corner of one the screens. not sure

they essentially have a big handicap on, which increases set knockback but does not increase damage-dependant knockback (at least not nearly as much). So if you hit them with a move with a lot of set knockback (mario's up-B, DK's up-B, fox's shine, any throw, etc) then they die in 1 hit. the polygons don't have B moves (including up-B) so often they lose their jump somehow when hit and can't up-B back.
