I would just like to say that I came back home from school for a night last weekend and played brawl for the first time in about seven weeks. I was going to play with my friend online, but was really worried that I'd be too rusty to even do remotely well, so I decided to play a few matches against a lvl 9 computer (not exactly the best training method, I know, but I didn't have much else to do). Oddly enough, I three stocked the computer while taking less than 10% damage the entire match! This is something that I've never done before, and I still can't explain how I retained my abilities this long.

Any thoughts?

CPUs are predictable, I could 3 stock one and take no damage, but the playstyle I get ingrained into my mind is detrimental to playing humans.

Playing a CPU like you would a human would give you less success than if you played against one with a less desirable strategy, however you wanna condition yourself to play against humans!

You should just practice on a motionless dummy or a really low level, just for the sake of beating on a moving target. Mindgames don't work on CPUs, but you can still simulate them for the sake of training.

Ha. Rusty Computer needs to practice more.

I've actually observed this. People continue to learn, somewhere in the back of their subconcious, even when they aren't dirrectly experiencing the game. I've had this happen to me to, where I could rival my brother's Wave Dashing Fox (*******) with my Samus during Melee. I used to be down right pathetic, but now I'm the best amoung most of my friends and all of my family (although that's not saying much, since I'm still outclassed by most of the people who get more human experience than me; see Teran's Post for details, since he nailed that).
