I personally use R, you have to be careful though...or like Thino said...you'll be going "grab grab" here and there.....plus if your Link or Samus you'll just look stupid xP

R is good for certain [laggy] DJCing, personally. CRR. Jump Attack L-Cancel.

Although since peek using Ness, he prefers A...

I use R only for Ness/Yoshi, everyone else I use A. 360 troller, though.

A while ago I tried using R to see if it was easier to get fast aerials on a short hop. However, my hand doesn't seem to be wired in such a way as to short hop with my thumb and then immediately use my index finger to hit the R button. I find it much easier to simply move my thumb quickly from C to A.

Or maybe it's just that I've been using A for so many years that R simply seems wrong.

i personally find it faster to use R. plus i mean think about it. if you use R thats less buttons for your thumb to push therefore making it faster. think about it, if you use A in the air and then want to jump immediately after it will take slightly longer since you have to slid your thumb over to C. where as if you use R then you thumb can already be on the C button.

its easier to press C+A fast than C+R :p
How is that true at all? C+A means you press C with your thumb, then move your thumb to A. C+R means you press C with your thumb, your index finger is ALREADY on R and presses R. Seems faster to me. Plus, the muscles for that kind of inward motion to press C+R, rather than moving your thumb left to press C+A (AWAY from the inside of the hand) are stronger/faster.

I can flick from down C to A with one smooth motion of my thumb, whereas using R requires coordinating my hand muscles to smoothly use my thumb and a separate finger in careful, speedy rhythm. It's a more complex movement overall. While using R might theoretically be faster if you get the proper rhythm and coordination down, I can still achieve sufficiently speedy results using A.

Yeah, if you can avoid silly grabbing...and you're fast enough its good

I find it harder to do Marios Uair chains with R though...and some other specific things i cant remember

if you do c+R you have to press two buttons with two fingers, you need more reaction speed i guess, maybe not :p at least for me

its what Surri said, i cant do some things with R even if it seems faster, but its just opinion of each person.

what House said is 100% correct in my opinion, you just have to use what you feel better :)

Reaction speed? what are you talking about. You just have to take the time for C+R to become one motion. Just like an aerial+z-cancel

Using a costum controll = handy :p mine looks fairly similar to a ps2 controller, so I've bound one of the c buttons to what would be X if it was a ps2 controller, and a/b are on what would be Squard and Circle, so basically I don't have to move my fingers when jumping and doing an attack, I just have to slide it abit when changing between a and b attacks.

i press Z 812039821 times to zcancel, i cant do it with R :)

i think kefit opinion's is like mine about something being easier than other.

why would I try something i cant do consistently to save a little time? thats what im trying to say. i agree R is faster, i just thought everyone thought c+a is EASIER to do ^^

except for my first post, the others were my opinion, about what i think and feel about A and R.. not the real truth lol :)

and lol Mikhas what you know about me? how can YOU say that I [/B ]cant do it faster? its faster for ME, thats what matter. Im talking about MY point of view.

i think this will be my last post on this topic im not feeling confortable anymore to post here :ohwell:

Oh, definitely. I never use R, but I was making the theoretical point that it WOULD be faster.

He's right. If you learned to use R, you would be able to do it faster. It's like people learning to start using Down+C instead of Up+C to jump. For a while Up+C is faster because they are used to it, but eventually once they get used to Down+C, it's faster than Up+C ever was.
Same thing in Melee with GC controllers - many people are used to pressing the farther jump button (I always get X and Y buttons confused), but once they get used to pressing the closer one, they can do everything faster simply because IT IS closer.
