Quick Draw Cancel?

At approximately 5:08 in this video, Ike does a Quick Draw (Side-B) but before it's complete he seems to hold back and slide backwards. I'm not sure if this is new, but I've never seen this done before. If this is new, it could make his Quick Draw even more useful in approaches etc.

Lol. Here I was thinking Quick Draw was even more pro than it looked. Oh well.
