Not exactly...
Technically you could use any devise that can copy an output signal from your tv whether that be digital or analog...
...But I dont think that is the spirit of your question...If ur asking if there is anyway to tranfer via SD card or w/e then No...So...Yes u need a cam-corder or a devise described above.

i use a video capture card. works fairly well, u can prob get one for around 30$
