Question/Suggestion

So, I have recently visited some other forums like this, and they all seem to have one thing in common that i used to LOVE to do. Signature of the Week (SOTW). For those of you who dont know what that is let me explain.

SOTW
-Each week, members will create a signature to enter into this contest.
-Each week, a new theme would be picked to determine the focus of the signature
-Each signature had to fit the theme.
-At the end of a 7 day time span the entries would cease and the thread would be closed or remodeled for a poll/voting session to take place to see the victor.

I mean, a moderator could host the contest. I know the rules like the back of my hand, so i could help too. Its a way to get members creative juices flowing and it is the contest that got me into computer gfx.

I can make trophies (and i can bake cookies for everyone!!1!!one!!)

I am talking about the real thing. That is more of a knock off. I mean have a whole sub forum for SOTW. Decked out. Full fledged.

That'd be a bit too much.
We can't just dedicate an ENTIRE subforum to one little thread.
That'd be a little unreasonable because we already have a signature based subforum

You don't need an individual thread for each of those... You definitely don't need a whole sub forum.

Rules should just go in the first post of the contest thread. And depending on how voting is done you don't need a separate thread for that either.

If voting is public and anyone can vote, then people would just post in the contest thread to cast a vote/PM whoever is running SOTW to vote.

If voting is private and held between a select 4 or 5 people, then no thread is needed for that either, since they should be communicating, well... privately (via PMs, etc.). The problem with this method is, who decides who gets to be a judge? I'm sure expert signature artists wouldn't take too kindly to sig judges who they thought were randoms/'inferior' to themselves... I guess the AE moderators could do it to be fair, but as far as I can tell they aren't all that into sigs. Couldn't hurt to ask them, though.

As for creating a new thread each week, I guess it could go either way. The old SOTW in the Sig Shoppe used one thread and just changed some things around each week. But AWYP creates new threads for each iteration... then again it's not weekly. Things could cluttered fast if every week there's a new thread for SOTW.

You definitely need a new thread each week. Everything gets jumbled when you dont. You dont need a new thread for voting and voting would be public. You need the sub forum to put all the threads for each week. Rules can definitely be a thread of its own and just get stickied or something along those lines. Please, tell me doesnt it make sense?

This contest is for two things: First and foremost it is to get new artist interested, it is a lot harder to think of something to be inspired by with freestyle than it is with a theme. The second is for plain and simple bragging rights. But that is not as important as getting creative juices flowing and people getting more interested in art itself.

We seriously CANNOT just go and make a subforum just for one contest. It's a waste of space, especially since we have a signature subforum AND a SotW contest thread already.
As Neon Ness said, there could be a new thread made each week for SotW, but there will NOT be an entire subforum dedicated to it. No matter how much its argued, theres a slim-to-none chance its gonna happen. Sorry.
