question about wavedashes

hey guys,

i am about to learn the techniques of melee and try to learn wavedashes now. and its not the big deal to do a wavedash, but when i saw some fights on youtube they are able to do an attack immediatly after a wavedash.
but when i try i have to wait for like half a sec or something before i can attack after a wavedash.

(e.g. i saw a "combo" with marth: grabbing and throwing the oppo forward, then wavedash forward and A-downwards (no smash), but when i try and throw + wavedash and hold then joystick down to do the attack my char does spot dodging, if i hold it downwards immediatly after wavedash : / )

so is there a trick how to do that or is it just about perfect timing or what? : /

It sounds like a timing thing. If you're spot dodging after a wavedash, you're probably holding the shield button too long.

dont hold the shield button when you wavedash, briefly press it
