So I'm sure the size varies still but overall are they bigger or smaller, do hey last longer? How has big ones? Small ones?

The shields work just as well as their melee incarnates, even though I noticed that some characters have a tendency to penetrated shields more often than others(Notably, Ike). Other than that, the shields haven't gone through any significan't change.

Wait. Do you mean Ike has a easily penetrable shield, or he can penetrate shield more easily?

Probably that ike's moves penetrate shields better

Moves with smaller hitboxes that are more presice and hit where the shields are not are what goes around shields, which is why falco's shine can Shield Stab A lot more often than Fox's.
