Pokemon are just like animals except they have attacks like flamethrower. They can die.
Pokemon were always there kinda like the way frogs and bunnies have always been with humans for as long as we remember.

They can die. It's been implied in many of the games where there are grave sites for deceased Pokemon. As for where they come from, the games imply that some came from another planet/dimension while others were simply discovered or invented.

yeah, basically normal animals are replaced with pokemon. like, as opposed to bats being in a cave, there is zubats. and for dogs, there is poochyena, mightyena, growlithe, etc.

Yeah, pokemon do change as they get older, they can die because, well look at The Pokemon Tower , Mt.Pyre and the Lost Tower... they're all gravesites for pokemon and as where they came from, maybe they came from space and the whole world of pokemon is probabally in another Galaxy.
