Questions are unrelated but I'm not making 2 threads for them.

About DI.. assume you're getting thrown or hit, do you roll the joystick back and forth across a corner, or just hold a direction?

And about the AI.. in Brawl if your SDI was like this (http://www.ssbwiki.com/File:Meteor_SDI.gif) then you've seen your CPU do some stuff like this @ 0:10

Have you seen anything even remotely similar on PM CPU's?

PM's SDI is not dumb like Brawl's was. Brawl's SDI was ridicules thanks to all that hit lag the attacks had.

if you're just using "normal" di, no, you don't roll anything. just point your stick in your desired direction before you get launched.

if you're trying to sdi, yes, that's when you roll the stick/cstick in a quarter circle, back and forth.

When I learned to (regular) DI this guy told me he always does that corner roll like SDI (idk why). I didn't know that it was pointless. Thanks for the answers guys.

It's not pointless, it allows for better SDI. If you just want regular DI all you need to do is hold the right direction but rolling the stick allows some pretty good SDI.

There is a better way to SDI that is easier than quarter circles though. If you want to SDI up, you can hold up left with the joystick and mash up right with the c stick. It gives you the most sdi movements per individual human inputs (this was carried over from brawl, wasn't in melee). Basically, your 2 joysticks make a right angle with exactly half of that angle will be the direction you sdi.

That still only gives two SDI inputs per Cstick motion tho, and you sure as hell aren't gonna get any more than one of those off during hitlag, unless it's some strong electrical kill move like knee or samus' charge shot. Quarter circle+ a c-stick input is most optimal way to do it that is still humanly reliable, you can get 4 SDI inputs doing that which can increase survivability dramatically.

Smash lab has a video for brawl going over it. It was for brawl, but I recall someone saying it is the same in P:M.
