If you Bowsercide while Link has a bomb in his hand the explosion will kill him but let you recovery it's pretty why not.

I'm not sure about that, but could it be that is is controller slot affected? Because if you have a higher slot than your opponent(i.E. you have 4, the other guy has 2), you won't be hurt from exploding stuff while in a grab/you're grabbing someone. I could be wrong though.
