PSA saving at a snail's pace. Why?

I've checked the various PSA help threads and haven't found anything mentioning this, but forgive me if it's been asked before. Each time I try to save a file in PSA, it initially starts the file at 145 kbs and then proceeds to creep forward at a crawl (15 minutes later it was at 160). This is odd as my system has experienced no slowdown in any other programs whatsoever. I've tried using Save, Save as, and everything from the beta release to 0.21 to the latest, and each time the result is the same; roughly 35-45 minutes to save a file. Any idea why?
