Nope. Both people need the latest Wifi version of Project M. Otherwise, the two of you will desynch and be unable to play. I've played against people who had the offline version, and a few that only had brawl. It did not turn out well.

Yeah. GGs I was just getting massive amounts of lag. I would try to side roll once and I would go twice and just multiple things. I think something might be wrong with my internet. 2 days ago I was playing fine with others... But yeah, GGs.
