Ah, dammit. Think I accidentally put the wrong file in when I was changing out Ike's .pac file the other day. We can go again or quit, your choice.

It doesn't matter to me. We can keep playing I guess. I don't mind rotations if someone else wants to join too.

Maybe even teams.

I'm looking to play, i'm down with rotations if it's fine with FoxBlaze.

Wow. Ggs :l

You need MEGA practice man. If i almost jv 5stocked you 2 times in a row you should practice big time before playing online. Take care.
lmao damn. This will sure help him to get better.

i know that sounds completely stupid but, do i just go into practice mode? play against cpu? i mean, i'm not sure how to get better
There are various things you can do to practice and you can do any combination of such things. However, the number one way I would suggest to you for getting better at the game is to just keep playing the game. The more you play, the better you familiarize yourself with the games mechanics and the more you see the habits of people and what they like to do (assuming that you're looking out for such things). Wi-fi is an excellent way to do that because you get to play with a multitude of people and experience different play styles.

However, it's not as simple as just "playing the game". If you continuously play the game but you practice the wrong things or pick up habits that become detrimental to your play, then your practice becomes pretty worthless and non-productive in the grand scheme. This is why there other important things you can do to supplement your practice with human opponents online or offline so that you don't fall for this common trap of inefficient practicing.

1. Using training mode is a great way to improve your technical ability in the game and it also helps you explore the game's mechanics without the pressure of an actual match. You can mess up all you want in training mode and no one will care. The only thing that will happen is that you'll start to feel more comfortable in your execution of moves and techniques. As far as what these moves you should be practicing in training mode are, there are universal techniques that all characters can do, such as wave dashing, L-canceling, wave landing, etc. For character-specific techniques, check out the Smashboard character forums (the Melee/Brawl character forums may have more relevant information for your character than the P:M ones due to lack of content in some of the P:M forums)

2. In P:M, you can save replays of your matches. Watching, studying, and critiquing your own replays, as well as someone else critiquing your replays is an amazing way to obtain further insight on why you may have lost that match. Especially when someone else critiques your matches because people can have a different perspective of the game than you and listening to their insight can open doors that you never thought existed.

3. Watching and studying videos of top players to see how they use the character you're interested in is also a great source of inspiration and insight for your own gameplay. You can watch some of the techniques they do and try to emulate them yourself in training mode to later apply in a match one day. Also, watching Smash streams with good, insightful commentators like D1 or Prog is also good because they are able to do a live analysis of the match as its happening, showing you why top player do the things they do in real time. That can be very helpful for a lot of people.

4. Read, read, read, and reeeeeead! Fighting games have developed into a really structured and nuanced art. There is a lot of literature on the philosophy and strategy of fighting games, covering certain aspects like what footsies are, spacing, zoning, offense, defense, mind games, option selects, etc. Even more broad topics like the mindset of a competitor and what it means to "play to win" are very important topics to the point where people have written 20+ page long guides and even entire books on fighting game subjects. A lot of the literature out there pertains mostly to traditional fighting games, but nearly all of the fundamental things the literature talks about pertains to the Smash Brothers series as well. Research can take you a very long way.

5. Last but not least, ask for advice from the people who beat you. If you want to get better, just saying ggs and walking away is the least productive way of doing that. Don't be afraid to ask the guy you were playing with what you could be doing better. Most people in the Smash community are really nice people and would be more than happy to help you out. It's also a good way of making new friends :3

Well, I hope that answered your question, Evan!

But even with all that rolling, I was caught off guard and or still lagging from a move, some you were able to punish, so it wasn't all bad...
lol so you're saying my delay makes my timing so bad that it isn't predictable and is instead tricky. Iiiiinteresting. Maybe my delay is trying to make me love it. But that can never be because I'm in love with the WiiU.

Dang. GG's I was just about to pull out my Mario. Didn't have a chance to use Squirtle either. DK baited me pretty well. I kept my Mario hidden the whole time lol. Well I guess you'll see him next time. Also I kept going too hard for Kirby-cides.

Anyone else?
nvm

Who wants to abuse me for a while? I need training, especially with Ike. The totally unbiased people at the Ike boards thought I should learn him, so I'm giving it a shot!

Also: We're currently discussing the TrIkeceratops MU over there, so feel free to join in.
