This is interesting. I like the idea because I think melee and smash 4 have strong competitive depth for different reasons. Melee has strong movement options and a very interesting game based on spacing and throwing out hit boxes at the right time, along with DI chasing. Smash 4's strong defensive options such as air dodges adds more finesse into combing and following up, with a lot of rock-paper-scissors situations that add a lot of mix-up and read depth. Both have what the other have, but not to the same extent. What if we mixed strong movement options of melee with the strong defensive options of smash 4 (and it's superior roster/stage list), I wonder if something beautiful and unique can be discovered. Of course, that relies on it not just trying to be melee, but if this does become I thing I know I will be and evangelist of movement options+Defensive options if project M4 becomes a thing.
