Project M 3.6b freezes after booting (my Wii has no Gamecube MC slots)

I am having the issue that others are having with the game freezing after starting, except I can't fix it by taking out or putting in memory cards because I have a black Wii which doesn't have the slots. The only thing I can think of is that I've been using Nintendont which uses GC Memory card emulation. -would that affect P:M in the same way? and -how could I stop it from doing so?

It's probably the memory card. I'm guessing you have the same issue as the one here:

You could try disabling your virtual memory card or launching through gecko.
