So just 2 days ago I bought a new Gamecube controller to replace my traded one that was also my Smash controller. However, it came out of the package with a problem - the R trigger's button functionality is not 100%. I can ensure that it will work by pressing it hard, but it's a major problem when I need to use a hold input. With Mario Kart: DD, I lose powerslides while still holding the R button. I originally thought it was because I lost my edge at the game, but I switched to an old controller and found that the new controller is causing this issue.
I already called Nintendo about a replacement, and they are actually shipping me a new one free of charge, without me having to send in my faulty controller. Hoping that one is defect-free, I would still like to correct/replace the faulted controller. It was bought from a Gamestop/EB, and they only had that one controller in stock... and they do not seem to be restocking Gamecube controllers. With that in mind, I might not be able to get a replacement from them, or if I do it'll take a long time.
So... any idea what might be causing this? I've had a look inside already, but I really don't have an idea of what the exact problem is or how the buttons work, let alone how to fix it.
