Shown with new footage only recently, the next installment in the Prince of Persia series is set in a NEW storyline, seperate from the Sands of Time trilogy. From this, we get a new Prince of Persia, a new setting, and even a new combat system.

http://pc.ign.com/objects/890/890666.html

This time around, the Prince isn't actually a royal figure. He's an adventurer and is not even royalty at all. After searching for an adventure, he comes across an oasis, where a dark force has been kept locked away. This darkenss plays a huge part in the game. Gone are the time powers of before, and now comes this new feature. Despite this, it's the same Prince we know, only with a few tweaks.

He is dressed as a vagabond. His weapons are the same throughout the whole game. A long slender sword in one hand, and an iron gauntlet in the other. His gauntlet provides another purpose, as it helps him in the acrobatic moves you can pull off.

The combat-system is changed. Instead of facing one-five guys at once, you will ALWAYS face one person in a duel. But this provides a GREATER AI for the enemy, so expect it to be hard. But you're not alone.

Elika is the female character of the game. After finding the oasis, she asks for your help in defeating the monster that is unleashed. Her AI is said to be advanced and will not hinder your progress. She follows the Prince wherever he goes. One of the commands you posses will be her, and she can help you in battles, using her sorcery, or help you perform great, acrobatic moves.

Lastly, the art style is a mixture between cel-shaded and realistic, providing a "fantasy" look to the game.

Personally, I love the Prince of Persia franchise, so I would buy this game no matter what was in it. However, some of these new changes sound excellent. The combat system sounds like it'll be very difficult and the new acrobatic skills will make for new challenges.

Discuss anything new you find with this game, and how much you look forward to it.

Set to be released on PC, XBox 360, and PS3, during the holidays later this year.

And Wii gets hosed again. Christ, are they going to get another outsourced ****ty knock-off? It really baffles me when stuff like that happens.

As for this game? I'm weary. I LOVED the Prince of Persia trilogy (Well, I need to get Two Thrones actually) and this new direction could be either really good or really bad. I'll wait and see for sure.

I must say, it is a twist to normal Prince of Persia games. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to it!

I was hoping that with the last game coming out for wii that they would release this one for wii aswell. It suffered the same fate as call of duty 4. It's probably because of....

a)hard to make graphics as good as other systems (even though both had an older version for wii.....)

b) sales for these kinds of games on wii are low.

Im going to go with B)

I do realize this thread was made many months ago, but because the game comes out TOMORROW, I felt it necessary to bring it back to the top.

My opinion...this game looks SICK! I'm still stoked for the game. It looks f***in amazing.

Getting it tomorrow when it comes out. Hopefully my laptop can take it so I can tell others about it. If not, one of us has to tell me, cause the computer where most of my games are is kinda...broken right now...

The game is already out, isn't it? I was under the impression....

I'm really excited for this game. I loved Sands of Time (not Warrior Within), but this game looks like nothing but a huge improvement. Like, in every way. Really, the only thing about Sands of Time that I loved was the acrobatics, which have remained intact—and improved, it seems.

Better hero, better chick (pretty and useful? INCONCEIVABLE!), better art style. A seemingly better combat system. More acrobatic maneuvers. The only thing that I can see suffering is the plot. It doesn't seem too creative. But that's not a huge deal.

Upgrade. I'm stoked.
