'Lo again my fox chums lol ^^

So i've once again been trying to think outside the box after being gone awhile, and my friend picked up the old habbit of always aming to land behind me when im shielding.

I used to always just shffl a move out of shield if he did this, but it became predictable and can at times be punished and doesnt have certain results (IE he can lcancel into shield to counteract and grab me instead)

And i came up with a way to grab behind you (without the obvious wavedash behind grab)

It goes like this, pretty tricky at first but it gets in your fingers eventually!

Shield > JC shine > turn around (in shine) > JC grab

It looks sweet when you pull it off!

Thought i'd post it up for people to try out!

Cheers

too complicated to be practical,

you basically have to JC out of shield frame perfectly, as well as having the grab out of shine frame perfect....>_>

I've been trying it out. The JC grab from shine is the easiest part.

The only problem is that half the time I Sh shine from my shield when trying to turn around >_>

I can do this perfectly without the turn around lol, but its not impossible to do consistently i'm sure i'll get it if i practice.

that is actually a really good idea. thats almost like a new technical fox trick for someone to use if they had fast enuff fingers. im actually going to practice that.

but as mentioned before, it would be an important trick like waveshining.

its great for players who space their shffl'd attacks so that they land behind ur shield after they hit u.

I'm not sure, but i don't believe you can grab them if the shine hits. esp, if it's a turnaround shine. RyanEX: stop replying to every single post.

This is similar to what i do (or try to) when people shield my waveshine. If i end up behind them after waveshining and they are still shielding, instead of shining again, I just turn around and grab. Doing this technique would be all the more sexy. Also lol @ scotu, whats the problem?

Wouldn't the shine just hit them when you do that?
Just WD under them or soemthing better.

Lol how many people shffl a move into shield when they land behind you?

Thats why its useful. The shine hits the shield.

Anyway was just a thought ^^

i love it when people try to push some tactic past a pro.

If it hasn't ever been used by top players, chances are its not as useful as you might think. Its like the doubleshining and whatnot. Flashy/hard to do, and yet completely unnecesary.

I understand that pro's havnt used it.

But what was once thought impossible and improbable to pull off in game is becoming more and more common.

Pc chris using fox's shine out of shield against taj's marth i think it was. Never seen it done until then in a pro match.

And think about it, if you could pull this off consistantly, without fail - are you seriously saying you wouldnt use it, even for the element of suprise?

Its really just a new way of looking at things. Sooner or later the more creative player will out-smart the other im sure you know that.

there are much better ways to keep your opponent off the stage. There should be no reason, while edge-guarding anyway, for your opponent to fly past you.

If that happens you simply have bad edge-guarding. If someone can see it happening and just sit in their shield...go for it.

Bairs, shines, and dsmashes make it so my Fox doesn't have to rely on this haxxy move to edge-guard. I'd hope that most others feel the same way.

Besides that, if you shine when trying to turn around..you'll just hit them anyway. If you're close enough to attempt to turn around and grab, chances are the shine will hit them.

When did i say this was for edge guarding? lol

I invented this while my friend was playing falco, keeping me pinned down in my shield at times with pillaring and then he started jumping up and coming down with a dair, making sure he clipped the shield to land behind me. Usually i'd do a bair out of shield, or wavedash back grab - but those two options are easily read.

Use it or leave it, im not bothered. Im just giving the people who want to expand their general variety in game the opportunity to see fresh ways of doing things, doing the unexpected in simple situations.

Aww come on scotu, it's how he gets his post+++.

But anyways, I don't see this being very practical to use. It seems to me like in most cases the shine is going to hit, rendering the grabbing part useless.

But we all appreciate you thinking outside the box. Being creative never hurt anybody. Well, except for that one time when Peter bought the breakfast machine.... >.>;

It's impossible. You can't grab him because you'd hit him with the shine before you attempt the grab, so he'll go away and you'll grab the air.

The only way to shine>JC>grab is to do it when you're running, just run and shine>then JC grab. The run will give you some kind of momentum for the grab to connect, but the timing is very difficult and I'm sure that the JC grab after the shine needs to be near perfect to be succesfully connected plus is pointless... Drillshine>grab is much better

You're all haters. I post because I'm interested in Fox, and in these threads that so many of you post in.

If you don't like how much I post, thats your problem.

Woudn't their shield grab beat yours after they block the shine? The frames of you turning around would be enough time for them to shield grab methinks.

Oskurito: Change your avatar. It makes you so unrecognizable. I liked Goku better.

It only takes fox 4 frames to turn around in his shine..that is nothing. That is the same as normal landing lag lol. But yeah, as hell said, if the shine hits, the only way to grab them is if you were running. And if you were running the timing isn't THAT hard. Pretty easy actually.

Interesting to grab them out of their shield though I wouldn't try it in tournament >_>. Nice thought process though.

I once invented a fox combo but I've still never seen anyone use it XD.

Running shine -- turn around in shine right when it hits(you should still be sliding) -- shhfl bair -- JC grab -- upthrow uair. I think it's like 42% damage.

But the thing is that it only works on a peach at 0% lol. I can't get it to work on anyone else >_>.
