This is a guide of how pressure=victory.

My theory of the way that players should play is a nontext book play style. They should apply pressure to the opponent. Pressure wins games. Meaning players tend to watch videos and emulate their play styles. The metagame today has been considered as defensive because of the top players play styles to be defensive. No offence to M2k, but when Ken was around players would play adamantly and offensively and learn how to apply pressure to the opponent. And now that Ken is gone, players would play more defensively. Even play with the black colour Marth. I think Pressure is the best way to play. Pressure wins games. We have all seen it in different fighting games. In SF third strike, Smash, tekken e.t.c. Once you get an opponent in a corner, pressure is applied.

Once you play offensively, you will lose the slightest sign of fear. When pressure is applied to a opponent, it will force them to react. Also they will not know what your going to do next since they are in a state of fear. Once you have the pressure on the opponent, keep it on him. After you apply pressure on them, you want to have mix ups to send fear once more to the opponent. And this all starts with having a mindset saying, "I am facing the character not the opponent". Once you say that, you will have no fear in applying pressure onto the opponent. Once the opponent in losing to something they do not know, it definitely has a psychological affect on them.

To reverse pressure, you have to have a counter to get out of a certain situation. Don't think about the player when your in pressure. Always think positive and learn how to rattle your opponent when they are pressure you. Once you rattle them when your in pressure, you will gain a psychological advantage. It can also delay the opponent from reaching a certain point which is a superior advantage. Lets say that I am playing you and I am shield pressuring you and I'm draining your shield down and then I hesitate for a second like I'm going to grab you, you will try to counter me with lets say a spot doge>grab for example. That's instinctive. And once I pressure you again during that match and I see you spot dodge>grab, I am going to take advantage of it. So I know now that your brain is programmed to spot dodge>grab out of pressure so I'm going to fade back and fsmash you after your spot dodge so your grab animation misses. So at this point, you will feel scared and confused. You will not know what option to use once I'm pressuring your shield. So every time I'm pressuring you and you see that I fade back>fsmash, you say to yourself, "Oh my god, he got me" that gives me the psychological advantage. The point is, whether you counter me or not, I'm still applying pressure, thus winning psychologically and winning the match.

Just a little bit of pressure can change the whole game. apply your game plan, apply you maximum human potential, focus on playing the character (not the opponent) and apply all of your knowledge about the game in your matches you will be at a new level. Once you put all of that together, you will achieve victory.

These two videos are great representations of pressure.

Ehhh, you said a few things that are mostly true, but a lot of what you're saying is only true in certain situations or for a certain skill level of players, and some of your assumptions completely contradict each other.

I think the idea of "pressure," if made vague enough, can be said to be necessary to achieve victory. For example, you could say that camping is applying pressure by forcing your opponent to approach. But pressure, in a traditional sense (e.g. running up and pillaring someone's shield with Falco), is not something versatile, even viable, for much of the cast.

I'm a little confused as to why you call this a guide.

This is a guide of how pressure=victory.

My theory of the way that players should play is a nontext book play style. They should apply pressure to the opponent. Pressure wins games.
This is your entire statement, and in all that text you are unable to substantiate it in any way. Instead you base it off of arbitrary concepts like instinct or fear. This isn't the Dark Ages and unsupported statements have no merit. People with serious intent to understand the game will avoid your advice in the same manner that people with serious intent to understand the world will avoid religion.

If you plan to challenge me on this idea, instead reformat your content such that it has value. Try going-

1. Claim.
2. Delve into a detailed, accurate explanation.
3. Prove your point with unbiased examples. Preferably video.
4. Revoke any expected criticism with further support.

That said, I still think your entire theory is dead wrong. But in the event that you can prove yourself correct and me wrong, I would like to see it done properly in some irrefutable way.

While I agree with the title (there are, after all, different types of pressure, both defensive and offensive), I couldn't even read your post. It rambled too much.

No, it ENTIRELY Depends what character you are playing. Sheik and Marth do not have nearly as good of offensive pressure games as Falco/Fox/Peach do.

It ALL Depends the character you main.
I don't think that's what he means though, being in pressure means you are able to bait certain attacks in order to continue your pressure. Any character can do that... knowing full well what your options are at any giving positioning.

it should be noted that neither of the players he linked matches of won their respective tournies.

oh and good job using m2k as your prime example there... why would anyone copy the most winningest smasher of all time?

also, neo used black marth everytime he beat ken in dittos.

I like having a stock/match lead as pressure in truth its the best pressure in the game.

At the begging of most match ups my first goal is to eat up all the space its all mine idc if you're marth i'm going to throw a well spaced projectile out to force you back so i get the most space and he has to play my game. I refuse to play their I have stage control game. Also do you combo/di for or to avoid damage or stage placement?

Good read. I like how Sinji was explaining it in a players stand point. He had a few flaws for example, he did not explain the defensive factors of pressure. But over all it was good. Dudes need to chill out and give props to him.

No wonder Mango hates this site.

I do what I can and that's all I can. However pregame pressure is by far the most fun, like say they hover over sheik get a girn on your face and say come on I'm about to go to town they will go back to falco or whoever else they were when they lost. It works based on the feeling they emit. Trust me this can totally destroy them if they are a weak player.
