Well with brawl out and everyone with their own opinions about how brawl is.....this has a new course for the smash boards destination and future as well as the smash series. More and more useless spam appears on smash boards as the days pass by....why is this? Because many popular and professional smashers have called it quits because they've finally thought that smash has lost it's gaming potential and has no competitive future. Without any pros on the boards there are no leaders, without leaders there is nothing but chaos. Eventually spammers and lack of intelligent posts will lead to a shut down of smash boards and a lot of isolated gamers. Brawl is still however a huge success in the gaming world, as it has sold millions of copies world wide in U.S. and Japan, and soon to be Europe. Many people still enjoy the game, due to it's fun gameplay and pretty look. Even though there will be no more smash boards smashers will still play brawl sometimes (just as not time consumingly as melee) with neighbors and pals that live near by. Instead of devouring the lives of potential smashers like melee did brawl will be just a simple time filler that people will play if they have nothing better to do. I personally believe this is what Sakuria wanted, a filler so people would still have fun playing it, but would still be not content enough so they can still by MORE games (mario kart, and such).

What are your thoughts?

In a few months numbers will die down, Melee vs Brawl will always linger, but not be as prominent as it is now. And discussion will mostly center around things like beating boss battles on intense and other such challenges.

My prediction anyway.

Brawl will always be a great game loved by many, so these forums will always have people, whether you preferred Melee or not isnt relevant.

I think new ATs will be found in brawl and all the whining A holes will come back and act like they always supported brawl. This is what happens to the majority of sequels to competitve games. For example, Halo to Halo 2.

No, this is not what happens to a majority of them. A majority of them disappear and whither away. Some, like Halo, evolve because they were developed and programmed to have competitive aspects.

this thread is worthless, and increases the signal to noise ratio, aka you are adding to those "noob" posts you mentioned before, please don't make worthless threads again, thanks, as for the future of smashboards, it will likely remain the way it was before it was invaded by the brawl hype, or it may be usurped by another site, but smash will continue as it has for 3 generations now.

perhaps a mod can lock this, i can't see how it can garner any positive or thoughtful discussion.

No matter what happens, Brawl will be competitive. The old pros may leave, but new ones will show up to replace them.

As for this board? It'll still be the central site for all things Smash, but it'll probably just have different regulars than now.

Overexaggerate much?

Hate to break it to you, but competitive players are in the minority as far as the fanbase of Brawl is concerned. Even if every competitive player in the world gave up on Brawl and killed its ability to develop a high-level metagame... There are still thousands more people who will continue playing Brawl, because it's that great a game. Many of them would probably come here to discuss the game, maybe not at the level you might want, but discussion nonetheless.

My point is, Brawl is here to stay and so is Smashboards. While you guys worry about competitiveness, the rest of us will be enjoying our FFAs on Spear Pillar with smash balls on high.

Oh for petes sake, could you be anymore melodramatic? For a start, Melee. There were no 'pros' there was spam (not as much as now admittedly, but that was due to Smash 64 being at a time when professional gaming was a very rare thing. Brawl has no pros, as there hasn't even been any large scale tournaments yet. Brawl's been around for 4 months, while Melee was around for years. Even if Brawl isn't competative and ends up being dropped (which is HUGELY unlikely) Smashboards will still exist for Melee, Brawl and Smash 64.

Stop acting like it's the end of the world because Brawl isn't Melee. That's directed at everyone, both newbies, vets, the middlemen and fellow mods. What is, is. Deal with it.
