I want an update on tourney mode. I'm hopeful for a date (a specific month at least would be nice), but at the very least I'm looking forward to having a timeframe.

The problem is that they aren't complete yet. Or, they might not be. I remember that the gameplay we had of them had mario as their icon, not themselves.

That's because the "hack" (likely a hardware mod) the streamer was using caused those characters to be loaded when he selected Mario.

He likely used a RAM editor to make the game load Ryu/Roy's data folder when the Mario one is selected in-game. It isn't strange at all, something similar is done in many Mario Kart 8 hacks.

The characters are clearly ready to release, but the installation executable was not included in the patch. However, a RAM editor can allow you to manually override what the game loads on a case-by-case basis, so they just had it override Mario, in this case, and load Ryu/Roy's data folder.. They could probably do it with the other characters too.

That's my guess, anyway.

Oh, okay. That makes me more hopeful.

I now have a sneaking suspicion that he will announce and release roy/Ryu tomorrow and then later on, at E3, a new DLC character gets announced at a surprise at the end of the E3 direct.

I'm going to guess Tournament mode will be touched on and there'll be something we didn't see.

Remember in the CEO trailer that Smash was missing and CEO has something special? Well, what if it leads to tournament mode? That's the first thing that came to my mind since the place is so full of competitions and huge variety of games there.
