Smash Cadet
....K, I seriously did not see and the first tech was already in the survival guide for Snake.... **** you littlebigplanet.
Well, we all know Snake is the master of items, hell... I had a friend's peach turnips tactics improved because I told him to practice grenades with Snake.
Anyway, I've been thinking... what if there's another way to edgeguard with the grenades or set up for a good surprise attack from the ledge without the use of mines or c4...
I haven't tested it out yet since I'm a bit rusty (...littlebigplanet is addicting. Shaddup), but this is my tech. First you start near and facing the edge, pull out your grenade and do a short hand throw. While the grenade is in the air, jump up and grab it with a uair or a bair and DI to grab the edge. Now 2 things can happen, if you threw the grenade a bit late and grab the ledge, it will explode as soon grab on to the ledge or if the grenade didn't explode, you can roll on to the stage and it will explode during the roll. So far it makes for a good surprise attack, haven't used it in actual matches but planning to as soon as my sparring partner gets his **** wii back.
Another tech I found which is pretty good for edgeguarding, is simply smash throw a shield dropped grenade down to the ground while standing. The grenade goes insanely high in the air reaching near the top of the screen and comes back down to the ground, then explodes right before it hit the floor. This one I have used in matches and works pretty well to make the enemy try and recover low but discover that the grenade explode right in their face as soon as they try to grab the ledge. Combine this with some mortars and you got yourself a pretty good wall. Funny thing about this is, when the opponent is up in the air and sees the grenade flying up in the air, they usually think it's a direct throw up and will try to air dodge to avoid getting smacked by the nade. Another interesting thing is if you shield drop another nade, the grenade will slow it's falling speed and explode above snake's head.
I'm sure the second one is probably old or something but I've haven't seen anyone talk about it at all.
