I also posted this on GameFAQs. Here's just some ideas I thought about...feel free to use this somewhere if you want, as long as you credit me.
I've been recently looking around the Smash Bros. Dojo website, trying to find any hidden info. And, I found something interesting. With every post, there's the character icon that goes with it (Smash Symbol, Mario Mushroom, Triforce, etc.) Well, if you look closely at the URL, they're all formed like this:
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/images/icon/world_b_##.gif
The b stands for a black background, most likely. (If you go by the area at the bottom that shows all recent updates by date, the backgrounds of the icons are white.) and the number is a two-digit number that results in a series each. So, out of boredom, I decided to check out which ones were available today, marking what each one was, and here's the result:
01 - Smash Brothers Symbol
02 - Donkey Kong "DK" Logo
03 - Great Fox Logo
04 - Kirby Warpstar
05 - F-Zero Falcon/Eagle/Phoenix
06 - Metroid Screw Attack
07 - Earthbound Globe
08 - PokeMon PokeBall
09 - LoZ Triforce
10 - Mario Mushroom
11 - Yoshi Egg
12 - Fire Emblem Blade
13 - ???
14 - Ice Climbers Eggplant
15 - Animal Crossing Leaf
16 - WarioWare W
17 - Foxhound Logo
18 - Pit's Bow
19-30 - ???
(I stopped at 30, since I figured that after 11 blank pages, I wouldn't find anything.)
Interesting info, huh? So, I'm pulling a few assumptions from the game based on these URLS:
1) I'm assuming the game has been long finished, and uploading started after the game was finished. (That way, something isn't uploaded that was removed from the game, or so they used the game as reference. Whether or not this is true, it has little effect on what I'm saying. It's just an assumption I made.
2) At a first glance, these images don't seem to have any particular order. They were not put up in the order that they were originally placed on Smash Bros. Dojo. (In which case, Mario Mushroom and Triforce would've been near the top-- or, at least far before the DK logo.) It isn't by series alphabetically.
3) What is noticable? The first is the SSB logo. The next ten were all in SSB64. Take a look at the symbols from the original twelve characters of SSB64.
Mario - Mario Mushroom
Luigi - Mario Mushroom
Pikachu - PokeMon PokeBall
Jigglypuff - PokeMon PokeBall
Link - LoZ Triforce
Kirby - Kirby Warpstar
Donkey Kong - Donkey Kong "DK" Logo
Fox - Great Fox Logo
Samus - Metroid Screw Attack
Yoshi - Yoshi's Egg
Captain Falcon - F-Zero Falcon
Ness - Earthbound Globe
Of the original twelve, only four characters share logos. (Mario/Luigi both use the Mario Mushroom, and Pikachu/Jigglypuff use the PokeBall.) Only ten symbols were needed.
4) The next two, (not including the blank URL) are the two major series added in Melee: Fire Emblem and Ice Climbers. There were forteen new characters added to SSBM, (thirteen if you count Zelda/Sheik as one character) and here are their symbols:
Peach - Mario Mushroom
Bowser - Mario Mushroom
Dr. Mario - Mario Mushroom
Mewtwo - PokeMon PokeBall
Pichu - PokeMon PokeBall
Zelda/Sheik - LoZ Triforce
Ganondorf - LoZ Triforce
Young Link - LoZ Triforce
Falco - Great Fox Logo
Marth - Fire Emblem Blade
Roy - Fire Emblem Blade
Ice Climbers - Ice Climbers Eggplant
You'll notice I missed someone...I'll get to that later
5) The next four images are all new series that have so far been added to SSBB. Of the eight new characters revealed so far, they each either have their own new symbol, or use one of the original symbols:
Pit - Pit's Arrow
Wario - WarioWare W
Zero Suit Samus - Metroid Screw Attack
Ike - Fire Emblem Sword
PokeMon Trainer - PokeMon PokeBall
Diddy Kong - Donkey Kong "DK" Logo
Meta Knight - Kirby Warpstar
Snake - Foxhound Logo
That leaves one of the three logos not used so far in the character roster: The Animal Crossing Leaf. I'm not going to speculate whether or not an Animal Crossing character will be usable. There's a possible chance of an Assist Trophy...but, nobody can say for sure-- the game's already done, so we won't know until the site updates/the game's released
6) Now, for some SERIOUS speculation. If you look at the different series that have been shown so far on the Smash Bros. Dojo website so far, only one series has not been shown yet on the website. This is one character, that appeared in SSBM....Mr. Game and Watch! Personally, from the hints we have on the URLs, it makes sense to put his image between the Fire Emblem Blade and the Ice Climbers Eggplant. It fits with the Melee characters, and it makes more sense than saying, "It's some new series / It's one of the third party characters."
So, in conclusion, I'm pretty sure, through this information, Mr. Game and Watch will be playable. Plus, we know good and well Sakurai loves his Retro Characters...*looks at Ice Climbers*
If you think I'm wrong, feel free to discuss this...I don't expect a serious discussion, but if you think I'm wrong, other than the usual, "Mr. Game and Watch sux!one!!!3!" discussion, I'm willing to hear it.
