For me, air dodging hurts the experience of the game. Maybe it's just the character i mainly play (Captain Falcon) has fast arials that are easy to dodge with air dodges, but I still feel that with how strong they are, they are at least a little broken.

I would like to hear what you guys think.

Lying about my country.
I just wish there was a longer pause between multiple airdodges, and that they couldn't get you out of tumbling "for free".

They're fine otherwise, I like them better than Melee's airdodge.

I don't think they're broken or annoying. It makes the game all the more challenging for you and your opponent. c:

It's annyoing that players get more than 1 air dodge per air time, but the mechanic is here to stay. Nothing we can do about it.

It's not broken as doing it on the ground results in massive landing lag. However whenever the CPU gets launched and I try to follow up they spam it EVERY TIME I attack which is obnoxious.

I kind of wish they had it back to how it was in Melee where you can move and only do it once but we all know why they changed it.

It isn't really game-breaking as is, though they could afford to add a few frames of ending lag to each air dodge and it would be a lot less spammable.

It takes a very good player to dodge not-blatantly-spammed aerials. Try delaying the aerial attack (up air, I assume) between swings to bait the dodge. Even then, as they near the ground, they start having to weigh the value of dodging that aerial but taking 22 frames of landing lag penalty, so just keep it up and it'll catch up to them.

What's annoying is the CPU's and their perfect air-dodges. It makes it impossible to practice air combos in training mode. You can't even bait and punish an air-dodge because they just read your button inputs and dodge when you actually attack.

Not annoying and not broken. It was like when we went from smash 64 to melee and they introduced counters. The same strategy is used to beat players who frequently use these moves which is to bait them into use it and fake your attack, hitting them when they come out. The most frequent spot when you can use this is when you have launched your opponent to the top blast zone, when somebody is on their way down, jump once or twice and when you get to roughly 85-90% up to meeting them (around the time somebody initiates the air dodge), you fast fall, then single jump into the falling, punishable opponent.

It isn't really a problem at all for me. If anything, and I mean if anything, rolls are annoying But really, they aren't that big of a deal (for most characters anyway)

It's not broken at all. the invincibility frames are so short. Just try playing less predictably. For me if someone keeps dodging right after a captain falcon downthrow to avoid his areas, i'll short hop, land, power up a smash and wait to catch him on the landing lag from using an air dodge.

Eh... I find shielding and then grabbing WAY more annoying (specially on the edge of the stage when you climb back).

Part of the reason many players still prefer PM and Melee.

Good advice.

People claim CPUs are annoying because they spam air dodges, but spammed air dodges are incredibly easy to read and punish. The part where the character loses invincibility is incredibly telegraphed.

It's not broken, since clearly people know how to punish, but still, the fact that you get free invincibility frames with little drawback is just plain BS. Wait, you actually get NO drawback now that the Air Dodge actually has IASA at the end.

This is POOR DESIGN by any stretch of the imagination. Defense should be there to avoid attacks, not instantly go and reverse control of the match. They don't even have to fix it with big changes; just increasing the ending lag would suffice.

And before you say "learn to punish air dodges because you suck", I direct you to this video.

I main Zelda, so I can say without a doubt air dodges are OP and annoying. The rolls and aerial dodges need more delay. Or at least a 2 aerial dodge limit until you get hit or touch the ground/grab a ledge.

This game's meta is centralized around rolls, shields, and aerial dodges. It's gross.

Yes, you can punish them. But you shouldn't have to go "Hm, will they dodge here or there?" the entire match. It's a fighting game, not violent chess. :l

I think airdodging, shielding and rolling maybe should have slightly more ending lag overall. Still you cannot go to the other player after a loss saying "You only won because you airdodged so much, that is so unfair and broken!!1" ;)

That might help. Actually, I think it's a better fix than the recovery frames.

But as everyone has said, it's fine. If you do it close to the ground, you have a good deal of recover frames.

Never had a problem with them in this game.

Not too many people abuse the air dodge now that I think about it. Anyone who did usually ended up getting caught and beaten.

I love the air dodging system. It's not near as broken as the rolling system, and it prevents you from being juggled indefinitely by high priority characters. I find it extremely easy to bait someone into using an air dodge, and then punishing them for it a second later. Sure it's annoying if you aren't that good at getting reads, but once you figure out the timing of it all...air dodging becomes like, your best friend.
