I know Sakurai said no to this, but in my years of online gaming I have come to one conclusion, the majority always wins out over the minority.

And I would like to know how many people feel the same way I do.

Personally I want a ranking system in brawl, I'm a rank ***** and I'd love to spend hours and hours honing my skill and be recognized in an online ranking for it!

How bout you?

Also I'm trying to make this a poll so if it dosn't work out I failed epically...

Ya...epic fail ._.

Some other questions I've decided to ask:

Do you like the anonymity of the online play? Would you like to be able to tell who you're playing instead of it being completely unkown?

Would you like a voice chat system for brawl? Or even a chat program?

Would you like a system that allowed you to play certain people based on their skill level? Such as the channles in GunZ are?

Yes, I do.

I don't want to only have a small chance of playing a player near my skill level when I hop online. Anything that can filter out the 10 year old B-up spamming Links and Foxes is best. I've pretty much given up on the "Free Brawl" mode as it is, though, since it doesn't seem like you'll be able to alter any options, like items and stage without that lame lotery system. Also, there isn't any hint of stock mode online (Why?! Who plays time, honestly...) AND you can't toggle the amount of players you want in a match. I'm sticking to the friends mode, quite frankly, but ladders would be nice.

I have a diferent opinion, I mean, I like the way they are now, so peaople dont disconect to have an imaculate ranking, or having AR to alterate it, but, what if they do have a ranking sistem, thas is only personal. you can know your ranking and presum it when your friens come to your place to play or tacking a picture an postin in forums... but stil, having somthing like

win: # lose:# tie:# disconect:#

maybe will keep everityng all rigth...:):):)

It could become some sort of horrible online disease but i think it could be cool. Because you might end up fighting with some noob if your Ken or Aniki. But with skill rankings you can say from amateur to apprentice lvl people to fight for example. You would have a win loss record and It is replaced every week so it won't show up as 5 wins 10000000000 loss for example for a new player. The rankings wouldn't be offensive like NEWBIE Loser or sucker. They would actually make sense.

No, because I would feel bad for everyone at the bottom of 1000000 Brawlers. Also, you can't always measure who's the best because someone could mess up a tech and lose, when they are the best in the world. Also, items could screw you automatically in a match.

I'm the same way.

But obviously ranking shouldn't be soley determined by win/loss/tie/whatever ranking. Like everyone has a point value, points can be gained by beating someone who's around your level (few points) or someone who's supposed to be a lot better (many points). Obviously not much happens point-wise if you beat someone leagues below you, or lose to someone leagues ahead of you, etc

I don't want to even think of the specifics, though

Sure it would be nice, but it's not really a necessity. It's just fine the way it is too.

Off Topic Tangent Warning: We also really don't need things like voice chat either (while we're on the subject of online anything). I'm personally not too fond of the idea of a little 12 year old kid screaming at me with his prepubescent high voice saying things like "U cheeted". No thanks. Sakurai is doing a decent job with the online mode really. I don't think I can really say more without knowing more about the system itself.

personally i would like a choice so i could have fun, or rank myself with the best =)
That way everyone is happy and cool rankings!
And another thing to the guy above me i would like the choice of voice although i think u would need to be able to mute them!

Idk, that could be pretty fun, if that happen to me I'd just bust out laughing and do my absolute best to piss the lil ****er off xD. It's fun to piss people off :o

Also I'd really like to play a wide audience...but if it's anything like melee everyone who's anyone thinks they're the **** at the game when really they suck ,so the majority of the population playing online will probably suck. Which would suck for anyone even halfway decent. Can't really improve your skill too much against people who spam 1 move.

I just sort of...expected? this from an online game? Every online game I've ever played or heard about had some sort of score keeping and ranking...and given melee's records I just assumed they'd have something :o...

Yes, I would like an online ranking system or a Rivals mode sort of thing because it would allow me to find a good challenge right off the bat and help me avoid unchallenging noobs.

first of all i don't think noobs will play online too often and second of all you can tell who you are better with your friends and honestly if your the best in a video game it means you have zero percent life

No, I don't. I'll just add people that are good that I know and play against them.

Now...really...zero percent life? You do realize that statement makes no sense if taken literally. I really don't know how it got started but it's ******** either way.

How can you say such a statement and limit it to video games? What if someone was the best at drinking games? Baseball? arm wrestling? How can you make the distinction between what is better than something else. The 'life' you speak of is a social life I assume? Well what good is a social life if you're not having fun? What if you have fun playing a video game and would like to be the best? You can't do that because it's not accepted by the 'cool' kids? You should be out drinking and partying and ****ing anything in a skirt? That's the way you ought to live your 'life' because it's the only way to have a 'life'?

Gosh no!
Ranks are almost always off. Rank doesn't matter, skill does.
Rank can go up by exploiting the system or by playing a lot. Rank can change disproportionately to skill.
When someone who achieves a certain rank goes lower, if they take their rank seriously, they'll may get very angry, or very addicted until their rank goes back up.

Not really. If Brawl had a ranking system, I can already see tons of people disconnecting due to their obession with ranks. I think Brawl is better off without leaderboards. If you really want to prove how great you are, you have to show your opponents how great you really are.

I guess I'm not looking forward to destroying 80% of the players I play against ._. (Assuming I'm as good as I'd like to think, hehe)

The only people that don't want rankings are the ones that know they'd be low on said rankings.

If you were truly casual, then you wouldn't care where you were, and you wouldn't care whether or not there were rankings.

Truly I would like it, but theres no problem for me, matched against a n00b, just beat him, and hope for the best next time. But mainly i don't care, and you never know why Sakurai might have delayed the game :)... just saying.

I enjoy the search function.

I'd also enjoy a rank system, but wait...we have that in friends mode! Gasp!
Just get FC's from an elite forum. If you can rank high with those guys, you're pretty good.

Do you want an Online Ranking system in Brawl?
Personally, I don't really care. If one is in, I'll ignore it. If one isn't, doesn't bother me in the least. I couldn't care less about ranks - its just a game.

Works for me. I see no need to know the name of who I'm playing - besides, its not their name tells me anything about them anyway.

SamusPoop said:

No - if there was one, I certainly would never use it. If and when I use the online combat, I'm going to be doing it to play the game, not chit-chat with random people I never have and likely never will meet. Especially considering that so many people would likely just spend their time griping if they're losing/lose and boasting if they're winning/win, which would just annoy me.

Again, don't care. I just want to play. If my foe is significantly better than me, I have the chance to learn from him. If my foe is significantly worse than me, he has that chance. If we're evenly matched, it ought to be one hell of a fight. I have no problem with any of those scenarios.

I dont mind the way things are now but being able to see names and the ability to chat in some way would be nice. A ranking system would make me happy but I can see why they would not add one.

Online Ranking: That'd be a nice new option

Anonymity: Sweet, I love it! (unless i play hardcore pros)

Voice Chat: It would be a nice option, but voice chat isn't needed, everyone can see the entire screen, it's not like halo where your teammates can't see 3/4 around them.

Skill Based Brawl: This is exactly what i want for brawl. Play people that are my level so i will get better so i don't get owned by hardcore pros or slaughter straight up n00bs.
