The airship course definitely should have been on the 1st page since the tilting is gone but pokemon stadium, I think, is a good course. I can also see why it may have been taken out. perhaps if the rock stage was removed then it would be 1st page worthy?

I assume the logic behind switching out PS1 was that it is a worse version of PS2. That may be true but I still there there are several worse stages than it they could have switches out. Norfair for example.

I'd say it was replaced with Lylat for the sake of variety. The logic is probably less that PS2>PS1 and more that having Lylat+PS2 on page 1 makes more sense than PS1+PS2

it was moved to the second page in 2.6b? neato, though I have a version soon to be released that eliminates the tree from the fire phase and shortens the rock and removes all the platforms on the rock phase, which removes the pit in the process.

Low Tier City tournament had Lylat Cruise in it's current spot, so this particular stage select was already being used.

Making the rock less annoying sounds great for PS1, but getting rid of all the platforms takes away the personality of the transformation imho. If your gonna keep the transformation than at least let it be a little crazy.

I don't mind the design of Norfair, but the biggest problem I have with it is the lighting. Seems like most character costumes blend in with the dark background too easily. If they improved the lighting I think it would be ok though.

I'd much rather see Skyloft, Skyworld, and Norfair taken off before PS1.

All three are okay stages overall though.
I don't understand why you'd prefer those stages go to page 2. I feel like they're pretty good stages overall, yet PS1 has always seemed obnoxious to me, probably because of how the camera acts during transformation. I think if the stage didn't pan out so far and take your eyes off the immediate action if it's already close up, it would be better.

Stages that change in form seem better suited to the less serious/more counter-picky selection of page 2.

On another note, I wouldn't mind being able to move some page two stages over to page one without needing to swap them, mostly because page two are where all my replaced stages tend to be.

Fox just grinds my gears I guess and having so many big stages for him to do whatever the **** he wants on is almost superfluous. Though he does well on every stage, being literally unable to take him away from a stage where he can run the match to his liking is a little annoying. This goes for any fast character, including Sonic, Squirtle, Lucas, et al.; Fox is just a poster child.

I can understand that. I find Norfair to be obnoxious with certain characters myself, ZSS/Ivysaur can only recover at a certain point on the stage where other characters can reliably move up through the side platforms and have more options in getting back. Pikachu loses most of the threat from Thunder while on the bottom platform since the top part blocks it out.

I still really like the stage in comparison to what it was in Brawl though, even with the little gripes.

Like I said, they're definitely okay stages; I just feel that the roles they fulfill are more than satisfied by already existing stages and offing stages like Pokemon Stadium or Halberd due to their less common quirks is worse, again in my view, than knocking a stage that really just gives Sonic and Pikachu yet another playground.

I'm aware that PS1 is a common counterpick as Fox, too.

At least Lylat is a fairly small stage. I like having more of them, Marth main bias going on here. The amout of big stages is still too much for me, but I guess it comes down personal player preference at that point.

The lack of platforms really opens up everything to the right, and the rock still manages to bring the crazy element due to it being a big wall. My previous version with the platforms is still up on brawlvault though.

I tried shortening the rock further, but it ruins the whole look as everything else shrinks as well to the point where you can see through the floor.

I also imported both the rock and electric phases from ps2, but sadly neither worked. Combatants instantly slide from a point slightly to the left of the centre all the way to the left ledge.

I'd rather see halberd/castle seige moved to pg2 then ps1. So what if ps2 is more neutral then ps1 its still an good counter pick. I say move halberd (castle seige) to pg2 since those stages to be overrall dumber.

Castle Siege and Halberd seem to be (in my personal experience) the two most forgotten Brawl stages in Project M. More people tend to pick Norfair/Rumble Falls/SSE Jungle simply because they're new, even if they're "worse" stages. I wouldn't mind losing CS or Halberd just to make room for more stages that people will actually play.

If you just removed the rock and fire transformations from PS1 it would be an amazing stage.

If all we had was the water, grass, and fire settings, I think it would fit the themes of the game better, since we've got Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard, but no rock types.

Silly people. Stages with walls, particularly those that result in 30-45 timeouts lest you get on a disadvantage against your opponent are NEVER GOOD. A very good amount of stages banned have been struck down because of these 2 reasons, so really.

It's like people don't know Pokemon Stadium 1 was used in Competitive Melee cause the stage roster was so lacking and awful there

The version of PKS1 without the Tree, and with a lower rock is great. Also, my favorite moments in Melee include ones where Mango wen't HARD in the rock pit.

Well if they made the giant rock on ps1 a part of the background and move the side platform to the front of it then it'll be fine. Other then that ps1 is fine, but still rather see halberd/castle seige moved pg2 unless they neutralize them.

Literally, the only problem with norfair and even frigate orpheon are the pads without edges. I'd like to see some mods to more courses in the next version.

I can see the problem with Norfair, but I play on a frozen stage two version of Frigate Orpheon so I don't have any problems with that at all.

Skyworld is a starter in NY's most popular tournament series
It is - By Far - my favorite stage in the game.
You know I would ban that every first strike every time were it a neutral. I'm glad someone is making use of that stage. What is the appeal of skyworld for you?

We actually played a game in I think each winners, gfs, and losers on skyworld.

The fact that the platforms don't impede anything coming in on a diagonal, the fact that the right hand platform gives characters with limited recovery options something to strive for, and the fact that the ledge is unforgiving for characters with certain recovery types. All things I appreciate for sheik or ganon.

A permanent grass transformation would make me happy. Or transformations just between water and grass.

It is a perfectly fine design but not something I like to play on. Opposed to something like Norfair or Castle Seige which I think are just not great stages. I play Marth and the side platforms and high top platform are bad for him. For he can't cover them well and it allows other characters recovery options which I don't like as I wanna gimp them asap.

This was a long time ago... but I think Frozen Hobo developed a permanent grass phase for ps1. He and a few others made a brawl+ stage expansion pack with stages such as big blue+ and summit+, but I only recall ever seeing a preview pic for ps1... not that it demonstrated anything.

But no, the rock cannot be moved into the background. The rock is not an individual model, but rather, it is part of the background.
