Hey Everyone,
If you clicked on this thread wondering just what it's all about you may as well skip over this paragraph, because it doesn't explain it. I am just using this paragraph to state that I don't mind if no one wants to participate, as spriting schedules seem pretty packed of late (closed shop). So yeah, just let me know if you hate it.
Ok, if you skipped ahead, the following paragraph is what you are after.
Pokemon Sprite Rescue Team
So basically this thread is aimed at honing/showing off/wasting your spriting skills in a bit of a competition. Every now and then I'll post a scratched sprite of mine. But there is just one problem with this....
The sprite is plainer then the name John Smith!!
So here is where anyone reading this comes in. You have the chance to alter the posted sprite in any manner (aligned with the rules ofcourse) and submit it to me in a post or a PM if you are that secretive.
But how should I change it?
Well for those who don't know, or are starting spriting for the first time (much like me
), here are some ideas:
Add a Type:
The sprite I post will most likely be a nuetral Pokemon, something nice and plain.
Like the first challenge:
But what you can do is give it a type. Should I make it a blazing FIRE pokemon with flames rising from every orifice?
Like this:
Or should I make it a very cool, very slick DARK Pokemon and harness the sprites more evil side. Like this:
You could also consider adding 'the extras' that make Pokemon so distinguishable. Maybe a massive tail with a brush on the end? Or wings to help the sprite really fly? Maybe even gills if you are going for a water pokemon. There is no limit and it's really up to you. You may use other parts of other pokemon, but the idea is for the best overall look, and sometimes that can only be achieved by scratching something out for an hour or two.
The name of the Pokemon can also be changed, as the original plain sprite will be given a generic lame name that is obvious to what it is.
There is only really one rule:
... Well...two:
Judging: Will be done primarily by me but obviously the views of the entrants will be taken into account also.
Scoring: Depending on how well this is recieved, there will be a continouous point system applied. Meaning that all entries gain points and a progressive ladder will be constructed as higher placed submission will recieve more points and that user will jump up the ladder.
Pretty common sensey?
Let me know what you think or if you are interested?
But without further ado I give you the first challenge:
CHALLENGE 1:
Catris
Pokedex: A cat commonly found everywhere. Catris are often found walking on fences and scratching posts. Catris do not like mice pokemon.
P.S. This was originally going to be the bug evo for Eevee, but I think this'll be more fun..If you clicked on this thread wondering just what it's all about you may as well skip over this paragraph, because it doesn't explain it. There is only really one rule:
... Well...two:
The Pokedex must all be changed to something interesting, as the template will not be.Rule 1: You may not copy another person's design in any way/shape/form. Obviously multiple sprites can be submitted of a single type, but if plagiarism seems clear, then there will be trouble.
Rule 2: The sprite must be able to be recognised as coming from the original posted sprite.
Judging: Will be done primarily by me but obviously the views of the entrants will be taken into account also.

Edit: All entries will be added to the original post.
