Pokemon started about 10 years after Mario hit the home consoles, and is already giving Mario a run for his money!, infact.... when the next Pokemon games come out.... Pokemon may-be be the first videogame series in history to outdo gaming icon Mario....

I really doubt Nintendo is going to replace mario with pikachu as their mascot. When people think Nintendo, they think mario right away. It doesn't matter how many games each have under their belt. Mario=Nintendo Nintendo=Mario

Besides, Mario has had more history and is first party. Pikachu was made by GameFreak.

Well i dont think so personally ...i do think there is reason to present pikachu more ofter but cmon....pikachu beats mario blasphemy!!!

anyways impressive numbers there although i think pokemon games in general are not franchises only represented by pikachu even though he is among the more recognized and popular pokemon

So, Pikachu may not be the new Nintendo mascot, but is'nt that mindblowing that a former 3rd party company has created a franchise that may end up being more popular than the world's biggest gaming icon?!

Holy crap those are huge numbers. I don't think Mario will ever be replaced (at least not while his games keep coming out) as Nintendo's mascot. Like someone said, they wouldn't replace their own creation with a third-party rep.
