I see all these great catchphrases paired with Newcomer Speculation and I have no idea what to put xD. Anyway this is my first post here, I have mostly been an observer, and there were a few newcomer Ideas/support posts I had but never got around to posting (An undying shadow in a world of light, Gray Fox! Also had some ideas for Purah and Kasumi (doa) who's up air would be a wall run so you can go up indefinitely as long as there is a way in front of you), but figured it might be pointless. We are down to 2 fighters left on the fighter pass, but its nice to speculate and read about other peoples brawler concepts!

Pokémon Researcher Who?
In case you haven't heard, an open world Pokémon game is coming out early 2022 in ancient Sinnoh with a new starter line up! Before the league, before "Pokémon Trainers" even existed! So put simply they would play similar to Pokémon Trainer, but with a different starter lineup and features!

Reasons Why Pokémon Researcher Could Be The Next Fighter
You kind of need to grasp at straws for this one xD. But yeah, people think that the Fighter Pass will end on a "low note", and to most people a new Pokémon rep = "low note". The main roster ended with Incineroar, FP1 ended with Byleth, so maybe FP2 will end with a Pokémon rep xD.

Other than that, FP2 seems to have fighters from "already represented" franchises in a way. Min Min (Arms was already represented as an assist trophy), Steve (3rd party but technically the second Microsoft rep), Sephiroth (Cloud), and Pyra/Mythra (Shulk), so a new Pokémon rep isn't impossible!

Also FP2 ends at the end of 2021, maybe a new Pokémon rep would fit considering that's when D/P remakes are out and it could work as promo for the early 2022 game.

Reasons Why Pokémon Researcher Might Not Be The Next Fighter
Well, Corrin was put in Smash Bros before fates and that didn't turn out well so maybe Sakurai wants to avoid putting characters in before game release.

Moveset Concept
So how exactly would the "Pokémon Researcher" work? Well they would play as a mix between Pokémon Trainer and Rosalina/Luna and the Ice Climbers. You control the Pokémon and do damage but the Pokémon Researcher runs along with them and maybe throw in a few punches. Its speculated that you will actually have to fight Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, since there has been talk of a "player health bar", and based on some parts we can see in the trailer/leaked images as well.

Neutral Special : Catch
This would be similar to other movement disabling moves like Yoshi's egg or Kirby's vacuum! When you throw your Pokéball it captures your opponent for a limited time. It can be hard to aim but... If you successfully hit another player, it can be very dangerous... for them. Of course they can escape though there is a small chance you throw a "special" Pokéball that is a bit harder to escape from.

Up Special : Fly
You call back your Pokémon and raise your hand as a flying Pokémon picks you up off the ground. It would be similar to Snakes up air letting you recover!

Down Special : Pokémon Change

Your down special lets you switch between the Starters of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott. But isn't Oshawott already an assist trophy? This ties into the gimmick below...

Side Special : Flame Wheel/Seamitar/Arrow

The side special lets your chosen Pokémon perform a particular attack. Thinking about it now, maybe like Hero its a Random attack? That way your Pokémon has a number of different moves they can perform? Or it could be kept simple. Typhlosion could send out a flame wheel similar to Pyras blade, Samurott could slash forward with its Seamitars (the Razor Shells on its arms), and Decidueye could use its bow/arrow. Wait why are we talking about their final forms? Well that ties into the gimmick...

Gimmick : XP
Over time your Pokémon will gain XP from fighting, but ONLY when they are in battle. After you gain enough XP, they will move onto their next stage, Oshawott turns into Dewott and then Samurott etc. The more XP they get the stronger they get! Even though you can upgrade all 3 Pokémon... It is time consuming so you'll probably want to focus on one Pokémon based on how the battle is going. And if you are KO'd your XP will reset!

Final Smash : Judgement
Not sure about this one, was thinking maybe Arceus calls forth all of the Type plates and damages the opponent(s) with every single type or... Maybe since Arceus is a Pokémon assist trophy, Arceus could summon every single Pokémon assist trophy in the game causing massive damage!
