Do you guys think that PM will ever die out. I was thinking to myself, I like project m more, but since Melee has a bigger croud, will PM ever run out?

Well, nothing lasts forever. But Smash fans are ****ing stubborn, so I doubt it'll be anytime soon. PM also has patches, which will give it more staying power then Sm4sh if they update at correct times.

But the **** do I know anyways?

PM is bigger than Melee in some regions. I don't think it should die out anytime soon.

Nah.
It's not getting as much attention as it used to, but with 3.5 coming out soon it will surely get back on people's radar again.

With all the updates, character clone engine, new modes, a PAL version, and patches for all around balancing coming, I believe the mod will only gain stronger as time goes on.

Sm4sh is taking much precedence as of now, since it's just released on the 3DS (and that's not to say that it won't ever stop being more popular in time either, especially when the Wii U iteration is out, but that P:M will pick up good traction again to keep up, as well).

No. Not anytime soon. PM is still growing fast. Right now smash 4 is overshadowing it a bit, but by this time next year they'll be back on even footing again.

I honestly think out of the big three games (Sm4sh will get popular very soon, PM, and Melee) Melee will likely die out first. Most younger players are going deeper into PM and Sm4sh. The older players will... Well look at Ken.

I'm new to the smash scene and it's kind of difficult to get into Melee due to 1) need CRT, 2) Buy Gamecube, 3) buy melee which is surprisingly expensive. So I have PM, the GC controller adapter and trying to learn it. Hopefully I can find some people around me who like it haha

I don't think it will die. It's more competitive friendly than Sm4sh and it has a significantly larger roster than Melee. It certainly has its appeal. Not to mention the updates.

You don't NEED a CRT, but it definitely helps.

Well, we did just have the Big House 4, which was the second biggest PM tournament, so I don't think its going to die out anytime soon.

Only way PM will die out in the near future is if Nintendo stops it.

With that said Smash 4 is overshadowing it now but that was inevitable. Smash 4 is a official game.

PM will still have it's own crowd and will still have it's own tournaments. Also updates keeps the game fresh.

I know plenty of people who say they'll continue to actively play PM even now that Smash 4 is out. Personally for me I like PM better due to the infinitely superior roster, so I put most of my time into it. As for the Wii U version, we'll see...

HIGHLY doubt that'll happen. There's a lot of people that still play it even with Smash 4. And considering PM is still getting updates and they're adding more newcomers, I doubt we'll see the end of it any time soon. unless nintendo decides to be jerks about it

I hope it doesn't die out. Hopefully mods and new fleshed out character movesets will keep it alive. I myself am working to bring Dark Samus to Project M, or at least my own personal Project M!

I was playing this game when it was a weird mess w/r/t intristic mechanics and the concept of an entire region's worth of players was laughable, so I can assure you, I'll keep playing no matter what goes down

Smash 4 has the popularity for now. The big thing will be APEX 2015. How well PM does there will be the stage setter for other big tournaments the whole rest of the year.

Yeah, Smash 4's going to rock people's worlds for a while, for the sole reason it's new. But it's shaping up to be pretty lame and unbalanced in comparison to PM competitively from what I can see. Will PM ever be more popular than Smash 4, though? Well, first off, I hope not, because at that point Nintendo's really gonna sue it. I'm suprised they didn't already with how much attention it's gotten.

But it's definitly NO in general. People like to talk down to Project M like it's merely a Melee-fied Brawl, and the fact it's a hack will keep the casual players away from it, despite all the extra cool stuff it offers. Personally, though, I think Project M is the most balanced Smash game ever designed, and truely offers the most options out any Smash game out there.

I'll probably let Smash 4 bathe in it's glory for a while, but unless the Wii U version will be MUCH better, Project M will likely be my main Smash again soon.

Dying***

But no, I don't think it will die out for a long while. PM will probably respect the release dates of Smash 4 but then start to do its own thing when they can

I'll expect it to be dead in the year 2064.
