I have two matches up.
I'm playing the same person... on the same stage... and we're both using the same charcaters.
One match I felt like i stayed in control or maybe made less mistakes.
And another match i felt like i was making too many ..or maybe the falco was playing better..
:/
I dont know.
Im going to a tournie soon and i havent really played my marth in a tournie before.
TIPS would be greatly appreciated...
I guess i would like to know how can I make sure I stay in control like my first win.
Like what I did right and what I can do better to improve my chances of winning,
and what I need to stop doing in the matches that I lose.
Sorry if i sound confusing...
:ohwell:
Please just watch and help me out before I go to a tournie.

Your skills of prediction are pretty nice same with reaction, though this falco player was being mindlessly agressive at times.

If Falco gets Fthrown at high % off the edge and DIs towards you, he can be Fsmashed.
I'd say you could have used platforms a bit more to your defence as falco kept diving into you with dairs. Things like wavelanding on them and dropping through with a fair, or just getting into a better position from there.

I enjoyed watching these vids though, especially the tech from above at 140%

Thanks Frostbyte. I'm glad someone watched and enjoyed the videos :) AND gave me tips!
ha
I appreciate it.
Dojo also said i need to find better position to fight using the platforms.
I wont be able to play for a while since im going out of town this weekend.
But when I come back I'll just start practicing wd'ing around and wavelanding on and off platforms.
Thanks again.

I think you have a fairly decent Marth :)

Here's what I would say to work on:

-Spacing. Practice to be able to tipper with your fairs with unnatural consistency. I SHFair tipper can lead straight to a quick grab->uthrow->cg/utilts. Not only that, but it mentally gets to your opponent in that you can consistently hit him without him being able to touch you, whether he's sheilding or not.

-Don't approach with Nair as often. Approaching with Nairs too much can get you in trouble real fast if the Falco has quick fingers; land in front of him and he'll shield grab you while landing behind him means he can pull off a quick shine. Abuse the Fair; it's a much better approach than Nair. That and when you space it correctly, he'll be shielding a lot more which helps with...

-Grab more. Occasionally you started periods where you grabbed Falco and abused him, but most of the time you didn't. Tech chase and dash dance grab; most Falcos are rather predictable when they are going to attempt to pillar which also allows for a quick dash away and grab. When you did grab, you did very well racking up damage on him. I'd just like to see it more often. But don't always try to go for it; it gets very predictable and hence, punishable.

There was one more thing, but I think I forgot it. It may have been about counter, nut I can't remember; sorry :(

Well, best of luck at your tournament! :)

The counters arn't doing much for you. Id scrap that and replace it with sidesteps. However as a counter to SHL that seems to work ok.

Use chain grabbing that messes up space animals really bad. The shield grab is your friend against everyone.

Try to use f-smash tippers. theyre there for a reason

Try to stay close to falco so he cant spam you as much.

What actually helps with spacing, if you don't have a buddy to play against, is fight a Lvl 9 Marth but don't fsmash or abuse him that way; practice getting tipped fairs, ftilts, and dtilts on him. Because Lvl 9's have supernatural reflexes, unless you have perfect spacing they will virtually always neutral A swipe you before you get it off.

I emphasize this because I believe that spacing is the most important part of a Marth; it needs to be atleast near perfect for Marth to be played well competitively.

you should have used foward airs more cause they would have helped get falco away from you and thus limiting its a ability to combo as efficiently. you shouldnt use marths dash attack that much either since it is only useful it is tips and if it doesnt falco could easily shine you, grab, or down air. it seemed like sometimes you have trouble with having marth face the right direction Ex: your second stock. when that occasionally happens, using his over-B will turn marth around you can halt falcos movement if it connects.

One thing i really did like is how you saved your second jump until you were right next to the stage and relied on your over-Bs to get you back before hand. thats something i know i need to work on doing
