Playing strategically with MK?

I want to find out how to transform a plain aggressive MK player into an efficient player. I was once a truly aggressively MK player who was later punished to death. I've changed since then and now I can play as the smart one. However I want to know how to convert all plainly aggressive MK players into smart or efficient players who (listen here) can make full advantage of MK's powerful and fast air game, powerful ground game combined with his grabbing game including B moves, whilst being DEFENSIVE. A good MK doesn't just approach, attack and attack again hoping the opponent won't DI and counter. Can anyone tell me how to play MK defensively whilst on offensive? I've seen M2K and he plays violently (like ****) yet he is never touched not once. He is so efficient but what makes him so perfect but without naming names how do you play MK efficiently so you attack and rack up damage whilst acting defensive without being defensive overall?

Some mixed contributions from everyone would be appreciated but this is not specifically for me but for people who want to stop playing MK aggressively whilst getting punished and start to play strategically with a mix of defensive play.

Thanks

HD

p.s. If I was not clear with my request, in any way, please tell me and I'll edit this post but please don't assume it's spam or a worthless thread and close it within the first minute. Thanks

That's for me to know
I have a theory on how a good MK works. You have to have good reflexes to react quickly with MK's speed when you are in a situation with every one of his attacks so that you can make the best choices in attacks/ defenses. I'm guessing that M2K just has good enough reflexes to flow with MK so that there aren't any random ad lib choices made just because you can with MK's lag less attacks. That is my theory on it because I have relatively poor reactions at adapting to quick situations and understand that you have to have good reflexes to play smartly with MK without spamming smashes/ c-stick attacks....

M2K is just ****.

/thread

Being very good is simply a combination of experience and reaction.

Knowing perfectly the matchups helps to for spacing.
You need to list the different approaches you can use against the character your opponent picked, and to know how %chances you have to hit, then, you have to mix them up using the best one at the best time.
If you look at m2k's mk in slow motion, just pause before each one of his attacks, you'll see what kind of attack he chooses depending on the situation, and he almost always uses the best option.
Thinking very, very, very fast, knowing perfectly your character and your oponnent's character is what you need.

spacing is everything.
if you hit with the proper spacing you can follow up your attacks usually without being hit after wards
if you miss your attack your proper spacing should allow you to evade the oncoming attacks.

experience is key to knowing when to be offensive and when to be defensive.

You've learnt by being overly agressive and being punished for it. Now you know when you can and when you cant.

Imo, the best way to learn is to spam it. that way you get a feel for when its right and when its bad. The same applies with style of play.

think of the best way to kill ur opponenet. people always just play to play. no actually give it a sec to think. okay look im vsing olimar. lets gimp and not let him recovery at all cost. if i do i fail. do better next match or serverly recover and make up for it.

space well. know which of ur attacks beat what and how fast or how to react to something quick. osht snake ftilted --- well u just powershielded teh first hit hes going to grab u or finihs the ftilt. with good reflexes ull beast out an ftilt or a grab of ur own.

before no1 could handle agressive mks but thats done with we are growing and playing a lot smarter. or at least trying to lol like me xD

HD see what your are doing is your think too broad imo
MK is just one ultimate character
its just one thought his only big flaw is the player
So you wanna kno the mind set and what to do to change your mind set to be a smart aggressive MK?
All you must do is know your match ups space better than your spaced before
Know when to approach and when not to
You can still be aggressive but play defensive
its agressive defense.
Kno when to stay grounded and when to take the air

From watching M2K and seeing how he plays
I understand how to use MK (NOt as good as M2K of course)
And i dont use him much at all

Utilizing b moves is kinda simple but difficult just annalize when MK mains utilize his ******** loaded priority b moves.
Neutral b I use it to punish approaches and recover at times
Side b is a great recovery move from below the stage
Down b...I dont use this at all >_>....but it might have some uses
Up b its the freakin shuttle loop...nuff said for reall no joke
But really use it like marths up b or just to approach or to plank stuff like that
and of course recovery

You can't really prepare any kind of strategy with MK. You have to be able to analyze a situation, under stand it in the split second you have, and be able to choose the best option frequently to get good. That is why there aren't really any good "combos" with MK. He makes the game speed up so much that there really isn't a set way to do things. You just have to adapt to the speed that he makes.

It feels like playing melee again, he's so fast but really
Space well
Know metaknights moveset Like the back of your hand! If you know them you can quickly choose which move to use based on your opponents reaction
Always keep your trigger finger right over the Shield, and counter with small quick moves, and save the big hits for when their guard is down

and pray your opponent doesn't read you MK is too light to handle punishment

just use his safe moves(ftilt, dtilt, rising dairs into nado), 'till opponents reach a high % then use a fsmash/dsmash.
