I am in doubt here, always play in my town 2v2 without friendly fire. But now started playing 3v3 and 4v4 and I believe that some characters like Link or Samus gain much advantage from it because it can get safely away from firing projectiles. Do you think you should have friendly fire?

Every time this is brought up, it is noted that team attack (friendly fire) must be on in competitive play for 2 big reasons:
1. Projectiles become a bit too safe when you cannot harm your partner. This could easily cause a projectile-based character to feel comfortable with a boring, campy playstyle (and no one likes to see that).
2. With this option on, you are now able to save your opponent off-stage when they might otherwise fall to their death. Whenever this happens, it is pretty hyped.

Yes, friendly fire in teams has been the standard of competitive smash. While your town does not need to follow this, having it on certainly adds to a more balanced match. Projectile users such as Rob, Link, Samus, Megaman, etc. would wreak havoc with friendly fire off as they can just shoot away from the frontlines safely without too much harm. With 2v2, I would guess it's not that big of a deal, but when you increase it to 3v3 and 4v4, the projectile users exponentially have a better advantage. If they agree to it, then yes friendly fire on should be the standard for theses kind of matches. It's is not fun at all to just get projectile spammed with little risk.
