platform cancelling

i've been looking for threads on how to platform cancel aerials but i couldnt really find anything, so i was wondering if you guys have any advice on how to do it.

also, i know that for platform cancelling with falco most people tend to use the b-air, but i thought a really cool application of it could be falco's f-air seeing as the initial hit is pretty good. discuss?

just fall towards the edge of a platform while doing an aerial, should auto cancel. I dont like the fair, it's just ugly overall D:

are you talking about platform cancelling or edge cancelling?

platform cancelling is when you drop through a platform and throw an aerial while you're still in the platform, hit your opponent (who i think needs to also be on the platform), and stay on the platform. it only works for some aerials, phanna made a thread about it ages ago. there's no trick, just do it faster.

edge cancelling is when you throw an aerial and land it on the edge of a platform with forward momentum so that you keep going but you're in your neutral animation rather than the aerial animation. this you just have to space correctly.

bair is probably the best, you can platform cancel bair their shield, and if it pushes them off you can combo their tumble into another bair.

I'm not convinced you can do it on his fair but meh

also you have to hit someone (or their shield) for it to work if you wanna practise plug in a controller and set its handicap to 9 and yours to 1 then keep trying it. try using C-stick and things too
