I just got home from playing the new smash on 3ds....
HOLY ****! I'm blown away.
I'm sorry but whoever said this game mechanics are closer to brawl probably smoked a bunch of crack before hand.
The speed was intense, the controls were amazing. the analog stick took some time getting use to but overall it was jump right in fun.

dash dancing takes a bit if not a lot of practice but its easier depending on the speed of the character. but it is in the game EDIT* 8/31/14 (the dancing video i posted below in the comments is more like the brawl in place dancing, there were times the distance was larger but it was extremely difficult to keep up... could have been a demo glitch..but i didn't want to clarify this after going back to play the demo again....the inplace dashing was extremely effective for the new mechanic below though..without a video its hard for me to elaborate)

Pivot cancel - allows you to run one way and turn around into a forward smash.
so if your running towards the edge and you time it just perfect your character turns around and hits the opponent with a forward smash.

I also got a few more details. but i don't want anyone loosing there jobs. but there are supposedly a few more mechanics that will make this game very competitive.

amiibos also will train to level 50 and beyond and yes that is like level 9 plus 41.
so as you learn you will also learn from your kick ass amiibo. but i was playing smash while listening to this part so my bad I can't elaborate.

played with everyone except luigi and donkey kong.
everyone really felt speedy.

Ive been playing project M. and it felt like the successor to melee and brawl and M
i think nintendo is listening to the Smash community

just sharing ... hands are still shaking from happiness

Wait... is this real?

A POSITIVE THREAD ABOUT SMASH 4?!

On to a serious topic, though - thank you for what you said! It had honestly given me a lot more hope towards the games. I haven't personally played them, but after hearing everybody say it's slow and Brawl 2.0, I had just assumed it would be that. It's good to hear that the game is still speedy enough to be competitive, though! Can't wait to try it out soon, haha.

im not sure what build it was but it was from the nintend tour thats going on so i heard the speed could even increase BUT HONESETLY it doesn't need to! they move fluid and the attacks pack a punch!

combo game was amazing i jumped right in and felt at home

SUPER POSITIVE BRO!
felt amazing
people are hating on the new ssb4 if thats the case.
the smash community is going to have a blast. and there will be more mechanics announced also the new build is different from the e3 version a guy working there told me. he also showed me how to DASH DANCE & and demonstrated the pivot cancel!

This is very interesting. If you're tellin' the truth and went, this is all the more exciting.
get excited.
i was so happy to play it today, all the dedicated smashers there were smiling because of the speed.

every character seems melee'ish

like even bowser...before he was slow and now he's lie toon links speed almost ..
gre ninja was epic. speechless
wii fit trainer smooth as she wanna be
fox was shifted but in an amazing way. same moves but seems like the timing is way better (hard to describe)
marth was good ole elfin marth

and last but not leaf LITTLE MAC...OMG

he's the truth.

villiger is truly amazing but greninja and mac ware just spot on.

def get excited my friend!

Wait, so you played a new build or the old E3 one?

yaaaa only twice.
it did seem different.
but the e3 build wasn't bad honestly
i think its just people hating that its on a hand held yadayada
its like movies people always wanna hate till they actually go see the movie then they realize "oh **** this aint half bad"

or they think its going to be like brawl... dude i play project m everyday with my peoples and we r more excited to play this when it comes out.

if you knew me very well, thats a lot to say because i love melee and pj m but this ssb4 is making me feel right at home

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! It's great to hear positive feedback.

That said, seeing as you're somewhat new, I suppose I'll need to point out that double (or quadruple in this case :p) posting isn't allowed. :) If you want to respond to multiple people, do it in the one post, and edit your original post if you want to say something before anyone else has posted. :) Welcome to Smashboards!

While I agree that is awesome news for smash 4, but I'm pretty sure everyone who went to the closed press event is supposed to be on an embargo / NDA till September 13th, unless they said otherwise...

I could be wrong on this, so please tell me if I am.

I really hope you're telling the truth about all of this... This sounds all good, but I'm still suspicious of you.

Yeah, I'm also suspicious =/
saw everything with my own eyes.

dash danced,
and the pivot cancel those i can assure you are 100% real did them with my own hands. and saw them demonstrated
same with the amiibo training.
everything was talk as far as them revealing new mechanics BUT!
the game has something different about it that I'm positive smash lovers will enjoy.

played brawl right when i got home to double check.... POOPS all over brawl.

you can't poop on melee but I'm sensing a lot more fun in the new one

Yeah, I'm also suspicious =/

no worries. you will know 100% in the next 2 weeks , but
i assure you those 2 game mechanics were presented and real.

Alright, thanks for clarifying that, and if you don't mind me asking, which nintendo tour was it? Was it the one in Irvine, CA or the one in Houston, TX?

I am still somewhat skeptical, but if you're right, this will be a excellent smash bros game then!

Thanks again for the info! :)
hey it was irvine!! I'm actually going back right now.
i posted a picture of me playing on my twitter ( @azizigibson) to verify i did play it!
and your welcome :)

I hope this is true, but even if it's not, I'm still looking forward to it.
HAHA i like you straight up

smash is smash :)

But you're just giving us info without proving any facts. I'm neutral towards this since you haven't backed this up with evidence...

Either way, if you are truly telling the truth, thanks for giving us the info.

Ok, I guess I'll take your word for it, from what I heard about the later build and the landing lag reduction, this information does seem believable. 2 weeks till the game releases in Japan. We will see it soon enough either way =D

Sounds like good news -- thanks for sharing. Was the dash dancing practical? Dash dancing was in Brawl, but it wasn't very useful.

Sigh nvm then =/

Why are Nintendo trying so hard to avoid showing us the latest build?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eihl9WBi8pw&feature=youtu.be

i couldn't do any more variations super smoothly but there were some really awesome points.
the possibilities are there but i believe the new build will have some surprises.. this is what the reps were making it seem like.
they had a bunch of notes that would be in the final model

also this has pivot canceling in there

While I don't fully doubt you and your words, I would like to know where if possible did you play the 3ds demo?

Maybe I am wrong but isn't that dash dancing the one people doubt but didn't cover much distance?
irvine spectrum, nintendo tour. friday to monday

and possibly on the dancing. sometimes it went a further distance.
but i couldn't fully tell because I've never smashed on a tiny stick.
they kept stressing to me i would be happy with the final build.
the game is very promising , and if sakurai adds some brand new mechanics that are TOTALLY new
this game will flourish in its greatness

This is correct. The dash dancing here is hardly any different from Brawl's. You could ALSO rapidly dash left and right in Brawl if you did it fast enough, but you wouldn't really move anywhere because of how fast you were forced to switch direction. Without distance, all dash-dancing becomes is just your character spazzing out....on it's own, that's almost pointless. Which makes me wonder why people who don't know the use of proper dash dancing care about it being "back"....

i totally feel you on this, i did some extra research and peeped it after i posted the video above.
its effective though even though it seems like you guy is just spazzing, it worked EXTREMELY WELL with the pivot cancel mechanic
where you turn around and hit your opponent with a back smash or forward smash, hard to describe .

there were times the distance on the dance was further away but it was very hard to get the player to move as such because of the new turn around system, which i personally feel is alright.

all i need is speedy fighting, less lag on the landing, faster falls

the demo i played was fun. i really didn't think of anything else while was playing other than "THIS IS AMAZING. F BRAWL"

went home after and played project m.. just didn't feel to far form each other

If you are telling the truth, I could not be any more excited you should work a little bit on your grammar but what did the nintendo rep show you regarding turn canceling?

yes my grammar is whatever unless I'm writing something for school!
my bad jesus .

the turn canceling aka pivot cancel?
very effective.

example - someone is chancing you on final destination and right when you get to the edge you do a curvy type turn now and if you time it right you can quickly forward smash or hold a forward smash. when its done right it looks and feels very good.

so instead of being vulnerable turning around you have a few options.

From the videos I've seen, it looks like Dash Dancing is back in full force.
Not sure why people are getting upset, honestly.
