Background
All right folks, I'm finally getting on the ball and trying to maybe throw together a tournament in Pittsburgh before Brawl comes out. From what I've heard, the ideal venue would most likely be the CCYO building, but I'm also looking into collaborating with my University's Online Gaming Society to find a venue on campus. Rose has graciously supplied me with the information about the CCYO's availability and so without further ado:
WE NEED A DATE, HELP ME DECIDE
The important thing for right now is to nail down when people are available and figure out when makes the most sense for this tourney. As I see it, we have 4 options:
1. Scramble to get this thing together for this Saturday (2/23)
2. Scramble to get this thing together for this Sunday (2/24)
3. Get it together by next Sunday (3/2)
4. Get it together post Brawl in late March (some weekend that's not SPOC)
So people, if you're interested in coming to a tourney in Pittsburgh, please let me know which of these options works for you ASAP. I'd really like to know soon, especially since these dates are very soon.
Also, let me know if any of the following specs would need to be changed:
Ideal Start Time
Doors Open: 10:00/11:00
Doubles Start: 12:00
Singles Start: 30-60 minutes after doubles finishes (to let people get food between the two)
Tourney Format
< 32 entrants : Manually seeded double elimination bracket.
32 + entrants : 1 round of Pools for seeding followed by double elimination bracket (no one out after pools, simply use it for seeding).
Entrance Fee
Singles: $10/person
Teams: $10/team
I'll post specific rules for the tourney once we get this more general stuff nailed down, but I don't want people to be debating whether you should be able to ban neutrals or reset random, etc etc etc, when we don't even have a date yet.
I'm done rambling for now, discuss.

Now, generally speaking, I'm against Sunday tournaments for a good number of reasons, but seeing as how the clock's running out on melee, I'd rather have a Sunday tourney than a Post-Brawl tourney, since I doubt we'd be able to get any local or casual interest in melee once brawl comes out. If we do it the weekend before brawl though, then we can have "last melee tournament before Brawl" hype which might get people out for one last tournament.+ every sunday this month and next month. NOTE that there *might* be restrictions on what sundays this could happen on, since saturday events would need to dismantle.
+ this saturday, the 23rd. No other saturday until late march.
