PitFall meteor smash?

I noticed that when you hit someone in midair with a pitfall it sends them straight down at a great speed

could this be a meteor smash?

I wouldnt count it as one because you cant recover from a pitfall fall.

Nothing about pitfall being a meteor smash, it just says it will make you fly through passable walls if hit.
