If you're getting grabbed, you're not l-cancelling properly... Your shine should come out almost instantly...

Work on your l-cancels, continue to practice, pillaring will come.

Ok ive been practicing I'm getting a lil better but still seem to get open... call me a noob but Tell me exactly what i should do. I do know to L-cancel but tell me step by step what I should do to not get open... sorry I can't seem to find the right post that people post on the forums to help me, but i need advice straight up towards me not that the advice is to other players reading. Remember I want to be great not good. I hate Marth users

When you say not get open i take it you mean not to get shield grabbed.. If thats the case then you should be doing something like.. Shffl dair > shine > shffl dair Blah blah..Short hop, cstick down, fast fall, lcancel then down B, then repeat. Ahh, and don't forget to shine cancel.

it's not that hard to pillar. you already have the basics down if your even trying it. now all you have to do is practice is over and over until you are good and consistant at it... i'll briefly try to explain it...

1. shs (short hop spike) or jump (which ever jump your doing first) and spike
2. hit the opponent (hopefully)
3. land
4. l-cancel right away (you can tell when you dont l-cancel this b/c of the lag)
5. shine back up
6. process of copy and repeat...

sorry i didnt go into much detail... but if you need more help send me a message and i'll go into full detail...

Best way to practice pillaring is to lvl 1 bowser with 0.5 damage ratio and his handicap at 9 ur at 1 and just do this steps

1. SHFFL'd Dair
2. Shine
3. Shine cancel
4. SHFFL'd Dair
5. Shine
6. Shine cancel

etc etc hope this helps :)

you can use z to do the dair to get it out faster if you prefer, just do it at one frame slower timing than a jc grab. I personally use the c-stick, while not as fast, it's easier for me to fast fall with.

Your timing could be off when you L-cancel if your hitting them while they are in there shield, becuase when you hit the shield it slows you down a bit, enough to mess up your L-cancel. Also, you should be jumping after every shine to cancel the lag from the shine too.
