I am seriously having a lot of trouble with this freaking rat, even level 7ish CPU ones.

The good news is that there isn't very many of them, but the ones I have fought are nothing but a gigantic annoyance.

Dthrow to uair/fair usually means being punished by it's dair. Upb, especially out of shield is overall quite effective against it however.

Being above it in general means Thunder, which isn't as much of a pain anymore though thanks to the new airdodge mechanics, still annoying.

Jolt spam> missile spam.

Zair works somewhat as a counter against jolt spam, but timing zair because of it's size while timing the sh's to avoid the jolts is hell. Other than that zair doesn't seem to work very well against it.

The buffed thunder is a massive annoyance, but the smarter Pikas are reluctant to just throw it anytime for fear of being punished by chargeshot.

Dtilt is terrible at finishing it, most of the time I don't finish Pikas with dtilt unless they are at 170+. Dtilt is good for sneaking in quick damage to it though.

Don't even get me started on landing a bair on it.

Fmash, chargeshot and utilt when it's in the air seem to be the best ways to finish it. Of course landing any of those on it is of course hard.

Anybody got some positive experiences and advice they'd like to share, anything is appreciated.

No. The CPU is annoying, but I can 3-stock one at this point without losing a life. However, it's terrible playing an actual human. I faced off against a Pikachu last night and lost about 7-8 straight matches. I finally improved slightly and won twice, but it's such a terrible match up.

Your right. Jolt spam > missile spam. Zair loses a lot of its effectiveness because of Pikachu's small size, and the pattern his jolts follow. I'd say I got hit about 50-75% of the time I tried it.

I honestly don't have much advice. If you're talking strictly CPU then just learn the patterns. It's not that difficult--like I said, I had trouble at first but now versus basically any CPU at lvl. 9 is fairly easy.

For humans, well, I was actually going to make a topic like this so we're pretty much in the same boat. One thing I realized towards the end is that final Destination is not your friend. I usually like the completely flat area for Samus, but I found that my match up was much better at Battlefield. The space is a little smaller, and the platforms mess up Pikachu's jolt spam a bit.

If you can minimize the efficacy of his neutral B, he becomes a lot easier to approach and handle. So I guess any stage that screws with that would be a good choice. Anyway, g'luck. Here's hoping someone with more experience steps in with information :)

Small characters in general do well vs Samus. The whole Samus' moves not hitting them thing is hard to get around...

Try using uptilt and downsmash more, especially out of your shield. Thats all I did against meep/topes pikachu and I usually beat it >_>.

Short characters can be a difficult match up try to angle forward tilt and forward smash downwards. What hylian said works along with using down tilt works sometimes. You can use homing missiles see how reacts and punish with either charge shot or other move.
