If this is a hint to how the rest of the week is going to go, it’ll be a darn good week! Tuesday comes around, and we get details of yet another Final Smash, this time the electric rodent gets his shown.

The aptly named Volt Tackle is a move most pokemaniacs know of, being an electric type attack that causes damage to the user, and the move is only knowable by Pikachu, Raichu and Pichu. However, the move is nothing like it is in Brawl.
When Pikachu grabs the Smash Ball, he transforms into a “ball of light.” When transformed, Pikachu can fly around the screen, controlled by the player, ramming people at high speeds.

This doesn’t mean Pikachu’s totally unstopable! According to the Dojo, it’s actually a challenge to keep control of Pikachu during this time, and if what’s on the Dojo is a correct translation of Sakurai, it’s actually cancel-able, witha warning of what could happen if it’s canceled in mid-air. Watch where you’re flying guys!

In regards to how the move is controlled, there’s a few posibilities that come to mind. First is the most obvious, concidering the move looks like a larger version of Ness’ PK Thunder, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to think that it would be controlled in the same way. However, since this is Pikachu, and they’re talking about it being dificult to control, it could be controlled similar to Pikachu’s Up-B, with short, fast, and not easy to control bursts of speed.

As always, post your comments and ideas both here, and on our forums!
EDIT: K Prime on our forums has noticed a distinct similarity between Pikachu’s Final Smash and a move by a character in the game “Pulseman”, which was on the Sega Genisis, and made by Gamefreak, makers of Pokemon. If you want to see the move in action, K Prime found a youtube video with the move used, which can be found here.
