Picking up items

anyone else have problems with your character picking up items when you did not want it to?

Tilts will now pick up an item within range, so you gotta be wary of stuff like stray Metal Blades sitting in front of you. They can be a way to unexpectedly limit your options, which some opponents will be watchful for and will capitalize on if given the chance. Items themselves are usually pretty powerful tools if you can use them right though, so don't just avoid them all the time either.
