Pichu: Playable? Pokeball? Assist Trophy? Or just gone?

No offense, but that is the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard in my life. The goggles confirm one thing; Pikachu likes to wear goggles. Sure, maybe Sakurai will try and play the whole evolution route. Or maybe Pika just got fashion tips from his mentally challenged cousin. Or maybe my previous explaination. And unless they're citing in-game footage showing Pichu evolving into Pika or a press release by Nintendo, then the Mods don't know anything more than the rest of us.

No, it is YOUR logic that is fallible and worse yet, irrational. I nearly spat with disgust after reading your hate-mongering thread. Just because you're racist against all yellow people doesn't mean you should deny Pichu evolved into Pikachu. Your delusions may be strong enough to thwart your own senses but the rest of us intelligent Smashers already have found out that Pichu has actually evolved into Pikachu, which explains the Pichu goggles, the Volt Tackle, and how all of Pikachu's attacks have a "different flavor".
Sakurai said it himself that he intended to let Pichu evolve into the new Pikachu, and that we may even see a playable Raichu, but may just be a Pokeball if programming time is under constraint.

Something tells me that if Pichu returns, most of people will enjoy using that Pokémon as a sandbag.

This is how I practiced with every other character in Melee....played a match against 3 lvl 9 Pichus and used them for target practice

Actually, I think the Pikachu in the Smash series is the one from Pokemon Yellow.

I say lump all of the removed characters into one Assist Trophy. Like, have Dr. Mario and Young Link stun people with their projectiles while Roy and Pichu take people out with their forward smashes or something.

A little tip; if you want to sound like an intelligent person, try attacking the logic with which a person came to a conclusion, rather than the person themself. After all, I could be the biggest Pichu-hating, death-mongering communist on the planet, but if my logic was sound, I'd still be right. AND you'd have been shown up by the biggest Pichu-hating, death-mongering communist on the planet. That would suck.

It's funny, for claiming my logic was both fallible and irrational, you failed to demonstrate an example of it being either. Instead, you attacked my intelligence, my dislike of all things yellow (which would ironically include Pikachu, whom anyone who knows me can attest, I love), and my grip on reality, all of which are Ad Hominems and are logical falacies. You put words in Sakurai's mouth, without citing a credible source, you show me several pages detailing how Pikachus in general have the capacity to have been evolved from Pichus (ignoring the fact that in most Pokemon games Pikachus appear far more frequently as Pikachus, rather than being evolved from Pichus), without giving me a single credible reason for THIS Pikachu having evolved from a Pichu besides the circumstantial attack list (which could just as easily be revised in the next Pokemon game, or influenced by the attack list from the anime), a circumstantial fashion choice, and your overwhelming desire for Pikachu to be an evolved version of Pichu. Your venomous words towards me for simply disliking your favorite character clearly convey a strong bias on your part, but that doesn't make your arguement poor. The complete absence of any logical basis for your claims does that.

Ha, when I first read that post, I thought you were noting that Pikachu was yellow, and I was going to pat you on the back for noticing that, too (see above statement about me being a yellow-hater if that doesn't make sense).

Anyhow, you could be right (though I'd aks how you came to that conclusion), but one could argue that the Pikachu in Yellow was intended to BE the Pikachu from the anime. After all, it's the only game in the entire series that features a Pikachu that walks around on its own, a central character named Ash, and Team Rocket members Jesse and James (all of which originated in the anime). At the very least (and I stress least, because I would make the claim that they are intended to be the exact same character, but I could be wrong, I guess) Pikachu from Yellow, and thus Brawl Pikachu, was influenced by the anime, which was what I said.

Unless Pichu gets a new moveset, (which wil be considerably hard seeing as it is the baby form of pikachu), it needs to stay as...a trophy at best. Just seeing it as an assist trophy just brings back bad memories.

all u guys have decent points but you are forgetting one thing... and that is using your imagination.

im thinking as a possibility to justify pichu in the game we will see an in game cinematic of pichu and pikachu and other pokemon playing around happily in pallet town. suddenly mewtwo or metaknights ship appears and sends the subspace emmisary goons to capture pikachu cuz he is seen as being strong. they capture him (sounds like team rocket) and a struggle ensues as pichu tries to rescue his old friend. after a failed attempt pichu watches hopelessly as pika is carried away. he then finds it in him to evolve into a pikachu himself so he can be stronger in the journey awaiting him.

i think this is the best way to have pichu in brawl IF he is not a confiremd character. pokeball summoning to. i know its farfetch'd (lol) but i think we should start thinking along the given stroyline.

personally i dont mind playing with pichu at all. he is pretty decent when u get used to him.

Pichu should be in the game, but it needs some of those "cute" moves, such as Charm (where he causes the opponent attacking him to flinch and the combo stops (like Marth's counter, kinda)) , or Sweet Kiss (I dunnu)

Yeah for all we know he could be back in brawl as a fighter with a new moveset. We'll never know for certain until the game comes out....or sakurai reveals pichu (which he probably wouldn't because pichu would most likly be a secret character)
