Lipscomb University does not allow Wii internet connections, perceiving them as a security threat. Their statement:

All sources tell us that the Wii requires all ports be opened to work properly which is a major security risk to the University and therefore will not be available until the requirements of online Wii gaming changes.
Is this true? Is the Wii really a security risk? I know some other colleges allow Wii internet connections. If there is any information regarding this, I would love to have it so I can send it to the SGA.

Here is the page with the restriction information: http://lcc.lipscomb.edu/filter.asp?SID=44&co_key=12298

These are the ports recommended by Nintendo, however per the university page it appears as if they wouldn't be willing to open so many ports. The Wii's http access is granted through generic port 80 and then peer to peer is through a different series of ports, which is why it was recommended to open access to 'all' ports, though it's not technically necessary, it's usually easier for an admin to do it that way.

If you're going to play Wii online while you're at school there, you may not be able to do so using the school's internet access, may want to go ahead and see if you can install your own private internet, though obviously that would be an out of pocket expense you may not wish to pay for.

Nooooooooo, shap. As Sucumbio said, you could always set up your own with a router and a laptop.
